This is just a stupid little story that I came up with and decided to put on here... I'm not sure how it turned out because I was thinking as I wrote, but let me know what you think...
IMPORTANT A/N: Hehe... woops. So I know some of you may have read my other ongoing story, The Love of Sea-Green Eyes, and I kinda realize that it's been forever, but I know where I want to go with that story, I just have an extreme case of writer's block and school; So, I found this sitting around in my computer and I figured that I'd continue it (because it was left off in the middle of a sentence only about two pages in) and give you guys SOMETHING; it's the least I could do for being a horrible person- hope you like it and again I am sooooooooooo sorry!
The night was clear, stars twinkling in the dark sky, which was now a deep blue-purple color. The ocean was calm, and glistened a beautiful shade of sea-green in the starlight. The sand of the beach was white and soft beneath the demigods laid out on it, all surrounding a large bonfire. Chiron, of course, had said no because the bonfire we had planned was after curfew, but the Stoll brother were-somehow-able to conceal our little get-together from Chiron, the other campers, and, most importantly, the harpies.
Of course, all of us being the cliche idiots that we are, we accepted the Stolls' idea of playing Truth-or-Dare. As I began looking ahead to where we had decided to meet, I noticed-disappointedly-that Nico wasn't with us. *Sigh.* The things that boy does to me, without even realizing it.
Well, let me back up to when I first arrived at camp. I was carrying my satyr, Elijah, who was unconscious, in my arms. We were being tracked down by this thing-I later learned that it was a Fury-and we thought that we had finally lost it. But, just as we were aobut to pass the border into Camp Half-Blood, it swooped down and swiped its long dirty claws across my stomach and smacked Elijah in the other direction. When I got up, woozy and quickly losing blood, I found a sharp stick and was able to stab the Fury in the eye. As it was distracted and screaming in pain, I quickly gathered Elijah in my arms and used my last remaining strength (cliche, much?) to stumble over the camp line. There was a pale-skinned, dark-haired boy conveniently standing there, and when I collapsed from exhaustion (wow, another cliche...) he caught Elijah and me and lowered us to the ground. I vaguely heard him trying to say something, but I could barely speak- all I did was dumbly grunt and moan from pain; though I think that I may have said something like, "Winged lady," and then everything went black.
I later found out that the boy, who was called Nico, had called for healers and then had gone out and defeated the Fury. But, when I decided to open my eyes, I saw the boy sitting there in a chair next to my bed, passed out. Even-longer-story-than-I-already-told short, we began hanging out a lot (I was claimed as a daughter of Poseidon that same day I learned his name) and he soon became my best friend. Yeah, I had other friends too, but Nico was my best friend and I was his; we told each other everything-or, almost everything. Obviously, I hadn't told him about my crush on him; almost nobody knew.
"Um, hello? Marina? Anybody home?" Somebody began knocking on my skull, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"Huh?" Was my oh-so-intelligent answer. I turned and saw my older brother, Percy, grinning widely-and mischieviously, might I add-at me. Before I could do anything to protect myself from what he was about to do, he picked me up and ran into the water. When we were completely submerged, he turned to me and whispered in my ear, "I know that you have a crush on Nico, little sis." And, seeing the blush that was spreading from my neck all the way up my face, he began laughing at me. I launched myself out of the water and away from Percy. By the time that I reached the bonfire where my other friends were gathered, I was completely dry again. I took in who my opponents would be in our game of Truth-or-Dare: Piper, who was sitting on Jason's lap and talking quietly with him; Leo, who was fiddling with different things that he pulled out of his magic tool belt; Frank and Hazel, who were playing a pretty intense game of rock-paper-scissors; Annabeth, who was furiously writing something in a thick, leather-bound journal, and Percy, who was just stepping out of the surf.
As soon as Percy reached the bonfire, he clapped his hands once and everyone immediately looked up from what they were doing. As I began to sit down next to Annabeth, who was possibly my second best friend, Percy announced something that nearly made me fall over the log I was about to sit on: "Okay, so, we are just about ready to start, we are just waiting for the Stolls and Nico."
I finally made my way to the spot next to Annabeth; right after speaking, Percy looked at me and raised an eyebrow, expecting me to react to Nico's name, which I of course refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing, so I just turned my face into an expressionless mask.
We were only waiting about a minute or so when we heard a rustling and the panting breaths of people who have been running. I turned around to see the Stolls running towards us, panicked expressions on both of their faces, and a fuming Nico with-was that pink?-yes, it was; he was wearing a pink aviator jacket. Oh no.
The Stolls ran right by me, but when Nico reached me I snagged his shirt, and because of his momentum, we both fell over, him on top of me. I could feel my face heat up as I looked up at him; yet I managed to stammer out, "D-Don't kill them; it's okay, I will have one of my friends from Hecate or Iris cabin fix it for you."
That managed to calm him down a bit; he got up and held out a hand for me, which I took and then quickly released. Nico sat down next to me, still glaring daggers at the Stolls. When they flinched, I couldn't help myself; I began to laugh. Nico looked at me surprised, and then let out a low chuckle, followed by a shake of his head. He seemed to realize that he was still wearing the pink jacket and quickly ripped it off and chucked it behind the log we were sitting on.
Percy stood up once more and said, "Okay, now we can start, I guess. Um, who wants to go first?"
Leo immediately raised his hand and practically screamed, "I DO!"
When Percy finally uncovered his ears, he said, "Yes, okay, fine, whatever, just don't yell again, Leo!"
Leo had the decency to give him a sheepish smile, which then morphed into a mischievous one; he dramatically pointed at Hazel, and said, "Truth-or-Dare, Hazel?"
Hazel pondered her answer for a moment, then answered, "Dare."
Leo smiled again and said, "I dare you to go into Aphrodite cabin tomorrow and allow them to give you a make-over and boy advice, without holding anything back; and then you have to walk around camp like that for the rest of the day." Hazel groaned and buried her face into Frank's chest.
"Fine. Uh, Jason, truth-or-dare?"
Jason didn't hesitate at all before proudly saying, "Dare."
Hazel, being the innocent girl she was, didn't want to embarrass any of her friends, so she simply said, "I dare you to...um, I dare you to...uh...kiss Piper on the cheek...?" She really wasn't one for PDA either, so of course she wouldn't be able to stand the sight of a few of her best friends kissing on the lips.
Jason let out a little chuckle and placed a feather-light kiss on Piper's cheek before quickly snatching her chin and planting a long, deep kiss on her lips. Piper didn't seem to mind either of his actions and even further deepened her boyfriend's surprise-attack kiss. I had to look away, and in the process I glimpsed Nico out of the corner of my eye.
My face immediately began to heat up as I thought of him kissing me like that. I put my hands on my cheeks to cool them down and irritably waited for the two lovebirds to finish. I think Hazel may have been as red as I was, but I couldn't really tell because she had burrowed herself into Frank, possibly hoping to incapacitate all of her stimuli during the offending action.
"Come on guys, you're ruining the mood!" I heard a sudden yell and saw a flying Stoll launch himself at the couple, effectively separating them.
"Connor, fine, ow-just get off!" At this point, I couldn't tell who had yelled the words coming from the jumble of limbs. I heard Nico snicker a bit and I laughed with him, finally allowing myself to relax, like old times.
While the three demigods were trying to untangle themselves, I heard a cry of "Nico! Ow, stop that-truth or dare?"
I felt Nico stiffen against my side, and then heard his quiet voice say, "Dare, I guess." Jason had finally disentangled himself, and it looked like Connor and Piper had as well. As the golden boy looked at Nico, he flashed the Ghost King an evil smirk and Nico went deathly pale.
"Alright then-why don't you kiss the person to your immediate right on the lips?" Oh gods, oh gods, oh gods no... "And no trying to back out of this, Nico-I have worse things up my sleeve." I should have seen this coming; Jason was very perceptive. He probably thought he was helping me with my crush on Nico, but he could not have done anything worse. I had never kissed anyone and was silently losing it and I was so worried that I would do it wrong and that Nico would hate it or even worse that he wouldn't even want to ki-
Now that I think it over, it sounds impossibly ridiculous. Even so, the first thought that popped into my head was that the earth had suddenly stopped rotating and it was just Nico and me left to experience what was most likely the luckiest moment of my life. I then slammed myself back into reality and was met with a sensory overload; I felt his body lightly touching mine all the way to our hips, I felt his warm breath, I felt-oh gosh, was that his tongue?! Yes, yes it was. And it felt incredible. I had no idea that my best friend was such a good kisser.
As soon as we parted for air, I kissed him again. There was no thought process; only the primal instinct of I want more, and so I took more. And it was just as good the second time. Well, he was a bit caught off guard, I admit. For a second I remembered that he had only done it for the dare and that I was so stupid to kiss him again, but then he began to thread his fingers through my hair and he kissed me even harder than before.
Suddenly, we broke apart from each other and returned to reality, and to the fact that our best friends and my brother were all staring at us with their eyes nearly popping out of their heads. I'm pretty sure that I turned a nice shade of scarlet and I caught a slight pink tint spreading on Nico's face-just before Percy came to sit between us. Nico looked terrified, and I'm sure that I was wearing a similar expression. Percy didn't look at either of us, though; he just started straight ahead and, in fact, ignored us.
I met Nico's eyes over Percy's hunched shoulders and my face flushed again, so I mimicked Percy's stance while still not making eye contact with him; I wasn't sure how my big brother would react.
After we had all finished with the bonfire, I barely heard Travis say that we should hit the hay before I grabbed my sweatshirt and bolted for my cabin, hoping to avoid all of them. Just as I reached the door, I realized that Percy would be there too. I then steeled myself against any and all awkwardness I felt and marched up to Cabin 13, having just seen the door open and close.
I knocked on the door and saw a flustered Nico answer it, his state only becoming worse once he realized that it was me at the door.
Before he could say anything, I pushed out what I had wanted to say in a rush of breath: "I know this might be weird especially after what happened, but I don't want to stay in my cabin tonight because I'm kinda sorta avoiding Percy so I was just wondering if I could stay here with you, just for the night, because you know, you're my best friend so I just thought..." I trailed off, suddenly realizing how stupid I sounded.
I had been going to tell Nico to forget that had ever happened, but then he nodded and silently pulled me inside. He stalked over to his chest of drawers-black, of course-and pulled out a large t-shirt, also black.
"Here," he finally said, "You can sleep in this; do you want a pair of boxers too, or...?" He awkwardly finished.
"No," I squeaked, my face heating for about the millionth time that night. "I uh, no, thanks, that's okay. I'm just gonna," I lamely pointed at the bathroom while walking in that direction and quickly closed myself inside. I embarrassedly banged the back of my head on the door and then quickly stripped out of my dirty day clothes, leaving on only my underwear so that I could pull the way-too-huge tee over my head. The thing fell just past my mid-thigh, which was good; I didn't need to be pulling down the hem the entire time I was here.
I slowly crept out of the bathroom and caught sight of Nico. He had rolled out a small floor mat along with a pillow and comforter-all black-and was sound asleep on the floor. I smiled slightly at his politeness and chivalry, and then crawled into his warm black bed before promptly passing out.
Well, as I said before, this was just a little thing that I whipped up, but now that I have forced myself to stop writing it I'm actually pretty fond of this little story... Let me know what you guys think, and if I should write more than one chapter. I think I will, it's just a matter of whether or not I have time to write it and whether or not you huys want me to write more haha :) love you guys, you're all awesome readers dealing with a very terrible author that appreciates you greatly :3
