Hello everyone! Hope you liked my other stories! Anyway, just so there's no super confusion. I'm going to tell you right now that in this fanfic, Tsuna has a twin sister named Yukiko and they both are already possible candidates for the tenth boss. Hope you like it! (the prologue is all a flashback. It's about one year before Tsuna meets Reborn in the manga/anime. So Tsuna and Yukiko are in their first year of middle school)

Disclaimer: I do not own Katekyo Hitman Reborn in any way. Neither its story nor its characters belong to me. I do own my OCs.

Prologue: The Chosen is lost

It is another lovely day in Nanimori as the Sawada twins leisurely walk to school for their last day as first years. They are in high spirits as they talk about their intended trip to Italy to continue their training as Decimo candidates. They look forward to seeing their guardians and teachers again.

"I wonder how much everyone has been since we've last seen them." Tsuna muses

"I'm sure they were just fine, if not exhausted from Reborn's training. They might even be stronger than us since they didn't have to take a break to come back here." Yukiko replies

"If that's the case then Reborn is really going to work us overtime." Tsuna laughs. "'No boss I raise is going to be weaker than their subordinates'" he says while trying to mimic Reborn

"That certainly sounds like something Reborn would say." Yukiko chuckles

As they approach the school grounds, more and more eyes land on their forms. This is nothing new to them. Their fellow students have always found it difficult to believe that the two of are actually twins or even related. The Sawada twins could not be more different. Tsunayoshi, while kind and genuine, performs poorly in both school and sports, earning him the nickname 'Dame-Tsuna'. Yukiko may not be the best in school but she is at least average in most of her classes and does extremely well in sports, and while she may be polite and calm she rarely bothers to interact with most of her fellow classmates. Their appearances are vastly different as well; Tsuna with his gravity-defying brown hair and warm brown eyes with a hint of orange and Yukiko with her radiant blond hair and deep blue eyes brings to question if they are even related much less twins. Yukiko especially with her blond hair and blue eyes.

The twins ignore the usual chatter, somewhat annoyed (Yukiko) and worried (Tsuna) that they still can't get over it after a year of seeing them together. The pass through the gate, Yukiko throwing a quick wave to the boy waiting for his prey to come in late, and get ready to start their last day as first years.

"Hey Yuki…" Tsuna calls to his sister. The two of them are enjoying the sunset on the school's roof before leaving for Italy. "Can you promise me something?"

Yukiko raises an eyebrow at Tsuna, cocking her head, "Of course. What is it?"

"Promise that we won't let the decision on who's going to be Decimo break us apart. I know only one of us can be Decimo and I don't want to be like all those other generations." Tsuna asks while looking at the ground

Yukiko gets Tsuna to look her in the eyes before saying, "Tsuna, something like that isn't going to come in between us. We're family and we love each other. We can barely bring ourselves to hurt each other when we spar. It's going to be fine."

Tsuna smiles at his sister, "You're right. It was silly of me to think that it'd even be an issue."

"Exactly," Yukiko nods while offering her hand, "Now come on. It's getting time for us to get on our plane."

Tsuna laughs as he takes Yukiko's hand and the two walk back home. Both absolutely sure that this trip will be wonderful and there is no threat to their bond as twins.

If only that were the case.

"Tsuna!" Yukiko screams as she cradles Tsuna's head, too afraid to touch anything else. His whole body was covered in wounds with the most fatal of them being the stab wound he got to his chest. "Tsuna, you have to stay awake! Help is on the way."

"Yu…ki…" Tsuna struggles to speak

"Tsuna! Tsuna keep it together!" Yukiko begs, tears flowing down her cheeks. Help isn't on its way; help walked away and let this whole thing happen. Maybe even organized it.

"How… could you?" Tsuna asks, tears running down his own face as he stares at his sister. The same sister who inflicted all of the wounds on his body. The sister who will probably become his murderer.

"I…" Yukiko can't even answer. She doesn't know either. One moment they were told to fight each other for the Decimo position and the next Tsuna is bleeding in her arms. And not just Tsuna, Tsuna's whole famiglia lay around them similar wounds on them as Tsuna. Yukiko's own guardian is also heavily injured, but alive.

"You… promised…" Tsuna grips her hand tighter, but she barely felt it he was so weakened.

"Tsuna… I – I didn't want…" Yukiko tries to explain

Tsuna's eyes show some last bits of strength, "I… will never…f-" he didn't even get to finish before his eyes glaze over. The hand he was lifting to Yukiko's face falls like the dead weight it is.

"Tsuna?" Yukiko cries, praying for the impossible, "Tsuna! Tsuna, please wake up!" She keeps screaming Tsuna's name so desperate in her attempts that she doesn't notice the group walk up to her from behind.

"It has been decided." The men declare, Yukiko's own father among them. "Yukiko Sawada you are now the main Decimo candidate. You are to continue your now personalized training with Reborn until he sees that you are fit to be the next boss."

Yukiko turns to look at the men, the leading members of Nono's famiglia, eyes widening at the sight of her father among them. But only for a moment. Her eyes begin to harden as she glares at them with all the hatred she could muster.

"Fuck you…" She growls to them, "The Vongola just made me kill my brother. I will never forgive the Vongola for this."
