Chapter One
Kate Connor stared at her husband with stress and agony. Tears fell down her face. She turned around and went up to the doctor.
"Is there anything you can do?" Kate choked out.
" Well, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that object that punctured your husband missed the heart and vertebrae. The bad news is that he must have surgery- a surgery that has only been performed once, on a man named Marcus Wright."
Kate widened her distressed eyes, along with everyone else. The doctor looked around at them with a puzzled face.
"Do you know him?"
Marcus stepped forward.
"I do." he said in a rough voice, glaring at the doctor.
"How?" the doctor said, completely confounded. "The surgery on the man was unsuccessful. He died on the operating table 10 years ago."
Marcus looked at his bewildered piers, then back at the doctor.
"He came back to life, somehow." he growled as he took a step forward, narrowing his eyes.
"Miraculous..." the doctor spoke under his breath. Then the atmosphere was silent for a while.
" I am Marcus Wright." he said as he revealed his skinless and metal hand. "That surgery turned me into a T-800."
The doctor swallowed.
"Unfortunately, that is the operation we have to do on Mr. Connor."
John opened his eyes.
"It's not possible..." then Connor's voice went out. Then an idea sparked in his mind.
"Kyle." Kyle Reese stepped forward looking at him.
"Take over here. You be the leader of the resistance."
"But I'm..."
"No. Accept the offer. Otherwise," he stopped to cough, "the resistance will be terminated."
Kyle accepted the offer, but remained motionless. Marcus picked up Connor's Resistance Coat and gave it to Kyle.
"Mrs. Connor, are you ready to have your husband operated on?"
John looked at her and gave her a slight nod.
"This surgery, if a success, will make John stronger. In his mind, and in his heart."
John didn't realize he had been injected with shots. The last thing he saw was his wife, then the world around him faded out...
There is no fate, but what we make. - John Connor
