Ok, this is for strawberrydarhling's 500 word challenge! Inspiration from the song Faking My Own Suicide by Relient K.
disclaimer:I don't own Harry Potter or Relient K
Draco watched them set up his funeral. People gathered. Most were Slytherins, and some from the Order who knew he was a spy for the Light side. He watched him mother cry over his casket as it was lowered into the ground. She was a very good actress, for she knew what he was doing.
He had been in love with Harry Potter since sixth year, and he knew Harry loved him back.
He saw the Golden Trio gather and give their condolences to Mrs. Malfoy, but Harry was the only one who looked truly upset. Draco knew Granger and Weasley probably wouldn't have come if not for Harry.
Draco saw Mrs. Malfoy give Harry a letter. One she was to tell him to read, but only when the funeral was over. That he must stay behind at Draco's grave. The letter would tell Harry how much Draco loved him. Hopefully it would be enough to make him admit it out loud. And if he did, Draco would come back to life.
Would Harry be mad when he found out that Draco had faked his own suicide just so Harry would admit he loved Draco back?
He wore a glamour so he could attend his funeral so he could keep an eye on Harry. Harry spent most of the funeral wiping his eyes so people wouldn't see his tears. He was here just as a fellow Order member. Honoring one of the fallen. Even with the war having been over for 2 years.
Harry greeted people and hid his feelings well, but Draco could always see the deeper emotion in Harry's eyes. His eyes were red and puffy, from all the tears he was holding in.
Eventually people started to leave, and after a while Harry was left alone. Harry pulled the letter from his jacket where he had put it earlier and just stared at it. His name was written beautifully on the front in what Harry knew was Draco's hand writing.
What could Draco possibly have to say to him? Harry knew Draco had loved him, but he'd never given in and returned the feelings. He was the Boy Who Lived, Defeater of He Who Shall Not Be Named. And Draco, while a spy, was still seen publicly as a Death Eater.
Harry went up to Draco's head stone and opened the letter, not knowing that his love was just a few feet from him behind a tree watching him.
Harry let out a sob as he read Draco's last words to him. They were full of love and longing. They were so beautiful. Harry couldn't hold it any longer and said, "I love you Draco. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you. I'd give anything just to see you one more time."
Tears leaked out of Harry's eyes as he fell to his knees. They stained the love letter in Harry's trembling hands.
"I'm here." Draco said as he walked up behind Harry. Harry gasped and turned around.
