Hey everyone! I think I owe you all an explanation on why I'm doing this. You see when I first created my Yugioh GX story it was a haphazard job because I was in a one piece mood at the time and I just feel that I can do more with Jaden if I kept his lighter personality. Also, I've gotten much better over the last year and feel it's time for me to try this again. All that said, there are still many changes I will make, first and foremost being that Jaden, though still fun loving, will be a little more mature than he was during most of GX. So without further ado, here is my new GX story, revamped and better than ever! Enjoy!

It was a sunny day in Domino City, quiet and serene. A few people were walking about talking to each other or minding their own business. But on one of these streets there was a boy of about 15 years, running at top speed. This boy was Jaden Yuki, and he was late… very late.

"Aw man, I can't believe I overslept this much. I only have about two minutes to get to the entrance exam for Duel Academy!" he said out loud.

'Well if you had set your alarm like I told you to this wouldn't have happened,' came a voice from his left.

"Yeah I know Burstinatrix. But at least they can't give me detention since I'm not a student yet."

Jaden began to think of how cool it was that he could talk to his cards like this. For as long as Jaden could remember, he had been able to see and hear duel spirits. All his monsters were as clearly seen to him as though they were humans. But there was one spirit he was really close to, one he had not seen in a long time. The spirit known as Yubel. They were closer than brother and sister, but she was known to have a temper. When Jaden was little, and was bullied by older kids, Yubel would lash out wounding them greatly. Jaden knew she meant well, but fervently wished she would stop. But one day as Jaden woke up and pulled out his deck, to his horror Yubel was not there! Her card had seemingly vanished into this air. He never found out what happened and was very distraught. Had it not been for his other spirit friends, Jaden may have never recovered from the loss of his best friend.

As Jaden continued to reminisce he failed to notice a man right in front of him. He collided with the man and fell backwards, his cards falling onto the ground.

"Sorry about that," Jaden said as he turned to pick up his cards.

"You're a duelist aren't you," the man said.

"I sure am. I going to try out at the academy."

"Is that right?"

Jaden got back up and laughed a little…until he realized who he was talking to: Yugi Muto, the King of Games! Yugi pulled out a card from his deck and handed it to Jaden.

"Why don't you take this. Something just tells me that it belongs with you," he said.

Jaden took the card still in awe that he had just met his idol.

"Good luck," Yugi said as he walked away.

"Thank you. I'll make you proud Yugi," Jaden said as he turned to bow.

Yugi gave him a smile and a thumbs up before continuing looked at the card he had been given and it was a monster card.

'Winged Kuriboh," he read to himself.

'Kuri Kuri."

"What was that? Weird.

"JADEN! The Exam!" Burstinatrix yelled.

"Aw snap! I can't miss this!"

Jaden broke into a full run towards KaibaCorp., where the exams were being held, barely making it in time to take the written application. Though he barely passed, Jaden managed to get inside the building just in time to see a duel between a boy with grey hair and a duel proctor. On the proctor's field there were two monsters, Mad Dog of Darkness and Blazing Impachi, and he had 1800 life points. On the boy's field was one monster, Vorse Raider, a facedown card, and he had 2000 life points.

"Alright tough guy, pop quiz. You've got two monsters staring you down. Do you A) throw in the towel, B) beg for mercy, or C) run home to mama," the proctor said in a smug tone.

The boy seemed to contemplate his next move before saying, "I'll go with D) none of the above!"

Then his face down card revealed itself to be Ring of Destruction.

"A trap!?" the proctor said in shock.

"Exactly, and now I can destroy one monster on the field and deal damage to both of us equal to that monster's attack points."

The ring appeared around Vorse Raider's neck and exploded destroying the monster and wiping out the proctor's life points.

"Not bad young man. Welcome to the Academy."

The boy bowed and walked back up to the stands. At this time three boys wearing Obelisk Blue uniforms were watching.

"Not bad, huh Chazz?" said the boy on the left.

"He sure knew his stuff didn't, he Chazz?" said the boy on the right.

The boy in the middle known as Chazz just scoffed and said, "He's a joke. I could've beaten that proctor in half that time. Besides we spent the last three years at Duel Prep School so we're ready. These kids don't know what they're getting into but they'll learn. The hard way, the Chazz Princeton way."

Jaden, who was watching the duel, overheard Chazz's snide comment and frowned.

"Kind of stuck up isn't he?" he said to no one in particular.

"That's Chazz Princeton," said a small blue-haired boy next to Jaden. "They say he was the top duelist of Duel Prep School for three years straight."

"Well with that attitude of his he won't be top dog for long. I personally thought that guy's move was impressive."

"That was Bastion Misawa. He got the highest score on the written exam of all us applicants."

"No kidding? I barely passed myself. By the way I'm Jaden."

"I'm Syrus. Nice to meet you. I barely passed too. I get test anxiety really easily. I don't know how I won my match."

"Oh so you're in! That great," Jaden said as patted Syrus on the back. "I'll be in too once I win my duel!"

"Wait you mean you haven't gone yet.

"Nope."

"Then you may have a problem. There's only one more going on and it's supposed to be the last one.

"Ack! You're kidding!?"

'Didn't Burst tell you to set your alarm,' came a male voice behind Jaden.

'Oh shut up Spark,' Jaden though back as he looked at the duel that was going on.

On the far end of the arena, a proctor was dueling a boy with fiery red hair slick back into a spick with four bangs framing his face (think Axel's hair color with Young Xehanort's hair style from Kingdom Hears). On the proctor's field was a Dark Blade in attack mode and he had 3000 life points. The boy had one card facedown, and 1000 life points. The proctor had just ended his turn.

"You better do something quick or you fail," the proctor said snidely.

"Not a chance! I'm getting into this Academy! I draw!" the boy said as he drew from his deck.

He looked at what he drew and smirked.

"I summon Dragonic Warrior- Ryker the Sonic (1800 atk/1600 def) in attack mode!"

The monster appeared on the field with a yell. It was a young knight with a slim build and green armor that looked like it was made out of dragon his. His fingers were more like talons and he had green dragon-like eyes.

"I now equip him with the spell card Dragon Arms- Soul Gauntlets! This card lets me banish a dragon from my hand once per turn to raise Ryker's attack points by that of the dragon I banished. So I banish Luster Dragon from my hand to increase Ryker's attack points by 1900!"

Just like that Ryker's attack rose to 3700 as the boy pocketed the Luster Dragon.

"Now Ryker, attack Dark Blade with Soul Rabbit Punch!"

The monster charged the proctor warrior with insane speed, delivering a lightning quick rabbit punch that caused Dark blade to explode as the proctor's life points fell to 1100. That's when the boy revealed his facedown card.

"I now activate my trap card Soul Shock! Since one of my monsters destroyed one of yours, you take damage equal to your destroyed monster's defense points!"

A bolt of blue lightning shot out from the trap card and struck the proctor in the chest, reducing his life points to zero.

"Ugh, impressive move. You're accepted."

"Heh heh, thanks man," the boy said before walking back up to the stands.

As luck would have it, he and Bastion ended up walking up to Jaden and Syrus.

"Wow nice job you two. Those plays were sweet," Jaden complimented.

"Well thank you. It was simple really," Bastion replied calmly.

"To be honest, I wish those proctor decks were tougher."

"TOUGHER!? You almost ran out of life points," Syrus exclaimed.

"True, but it get much more exciting if I'm down past five hundred. By the way, the name's Ace Fredrick," Ace said as he extended his hand in friendship.

"I'm Jaden Yuki, and we'll get along just fine with an attitude like that," Jaden said as he shook Ace's hand.

'Jaden Yuki, please report to the Duel Field A," came a voice over the intercom.

"Alright! Time to throw down!" Jaden exclaimed as he ran to the field.

"Excitable chap, isn't he?" Ace commented.

"He's so sure of himself. I wonder if he's that really that good," Syrus wondered.

"He's going to need to be. Look who he's dueling," Bastion said.

Sure enough when Jaden got to the duel field, standing on the other side was a man who for some reason was dress slightly like a female, complete with a pony tail and a small amount of makeup.

"Alright, test time. So son, your name?" Crowler said in a harsh tone.

"Jaden Yuki," Jaden said with a frown at Crowler's tone of voice.

"Well 'Jaden Yuki', I'm Dr. Vellian Crowler. Department Chair of techniques at Duel Academy."

"Oh is that so?" Jaden said, rubbing the back of his head with a laugh. "For a minute there I thought I was looking at bad Michael Jackson knockoff."

This comment got Crowler steaming mad while up in the stands there were many different reactions.

"Hahahahaha! I can't believe he said that," Ace guffawed.

"I can't either! He might as have signed a death warrant," Syrus exclaimed.

"Good lord…." Bastion said while pinching the bridge of his nose.

Chazz was now glaring at Jaden for saying such a comment while up at the highest point in the stands, a girl with dirty blonde hair and a man with dark blue hair watched the exchange intently.

"That kid's got some spunk talking to Crowler like that, huh Zane?" the girl said.

"Well it'll take more than that to get him out of this Alexis," Zane said emotionlessly.

"Duel Coat on!" Crowler snapped as his special duel disk came to life.

'I have no idea why Sheppard wants me to give delinquent a duel. I told them kick him out! I'll duel this brat, but I'll fail him with Ancient Gear Deck," he thought bitterly.

"Alright! Get your game on!" Jaden said as activated his duel disk and drew his cards.

"If you don't mind, I'll go first," he said as he drew his sixth card.

'Kuri Kuri."

'What? Oh! Winged Kuriboh, the card Yugi gave me,' Jaden said as he saw Winged Kuriboh appear on his shoulder.

'Kuri Kuri.'

'Oh you want me to play you? Alright let's do this.'

"I'll start things off with Winged Kuriboh in defense mode!"

The cute fur ball appeared on the field eliciting sighs from many of the girls in the stands.

"I'll also throw down a facedown before ending my turn."

"Then it's my turn," Crowler said as he drew.

"First I'll play my spell card Confiscation. Now I give up 1000 life points to look at your hand and send one of your cards to the graveyard."

Crowler's life points dropped to 3000 as images of Jaden's cards appeared before him.

"I choose to discard your Monster Reborn," he said Jaden discarded his card.

"Now I place two cards facedown before activating Heavy Storm."

A massive gale ripped through the playing field, destroying both Jaden and Crowler's cards. But when it died down, two insect looking tokens appeared on Crowler's field.

"Those two cards must've been Statue of the Wicked, which create a vicious token monster destroyed," Jaden surmised.

"Indeed. And now I sacrifice both of them to summon the mighty Ancient Gear Golem!"

The two tokens vanished and in their place appeared a towering metal behemoth, shocking everyone in the stands.

"No way! That's Crowler's legendary card! I can't believe that elitist snob is bullying this his with is own deck," Alexis exclaimed, shocked and outraged at the same.

"Seems the kid bit off more than he could chew. Now we'll see just what makes this card so legendary," Zane commented.

"Now I do hope you're not overly scared of my Golem," Crowler said condescendingly.

"No way! I've always wanted to take one on," Jaden replied confidently shocking everyone once again.

"Jaden's either really brave of really nuts," Syrus said wide-eyed.

"Ugh, this kid's not even flinching. What is he brain-dead," Chazz growled.

"Want to take him on huh? Well now you will! Ancient Gear Golem attack! Mechanized Melee!"

The rusted behemoth pulled its metal fist back before thrusting it forward at the Winged Kuriboh. The poor monster was destroyed in and instant.

'Sorry Winged Kuriboh,' Jaden thought to himself.

"You may have destroyed my monster, but I take no damage at all when Winged Kuriboh is destroyed or for the rest of the turn."

"Big deal," Crowler scoffed. "That pathetic fluff ball only bought one turn."

"Hey! Don't you dare call my monster weak," Jaden yelled finally losing his patience with the 'good doctor'.

"Whatever. I end my turn."

"Then it's my move," Jaden said as he drew.

"It's time to avenge Kuriboh with Polymerization! I fuse Elemental Heroes Avian and Burstinaxtrix to summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman!"

'It's go time!' Avian and Burstinatrix said as they disappeared into a swirling vortex.

A second later the Flame Wingman appeared and glared at the towering golem.

"It seems you didn't attention in math class. Your monster only has 2100 attack points while my Golem has 3000," Crowler sneered.

"It takes more than attack points to win a duel. I figured a techniques professor would know that," Jaden shot back.

"Just make your move!"

"Fine! I equip Flame Wingman with Fusion Weapon! Now his attack points rise by 1500."

"It can't be," Crowler shrieked as Flame Wingman's attack points rose to 3600.

"Oh it be alright. Now my monster is more than a match for yours. Now Flame Wingman, destroy that golem with Infernal Shockwave!'

'With pleasure,' Wingman said as he leaped into the air.

Charging both his element of fire and electricity of Fusion Weapon, he unleashed a searing hot blast that struck the golem in the chest causing it to explode from the inside.

"And that's not all, teach. Thanks to Flame Wingman's super power, you take damage equal to your monster's attack points.

Crowler's already long face fell even further as his golem collapsed right on top of him, reducing his life points to zero.

"That's game," Jaden declared doing a pose.

"I can't believe this kid beat me! I'll make him pay for this," Crowler growler as the audience cheered.

"Alright! Way to play Jay!" Syrus cheered.

"He's pretty good. I'll just duel him myself sometime," Ace said with a smirk.

"Indeed. I could use some competition," Bastion said also smiling.

As Jaden continued to hop around happy that he passed, his duel spirits congratulating him, Chazz glared down at him vowing to prove that his victory was just luck while Alexis watched Jaden with interest.

"Wow. This kids got a future here, huh Zane?"

"Yes, perhaps he does," Zane said as he walked away.

This was shaping up to be a very interest year for Duel Academy.

Alright that's enough for now. I hope you guy like this story. I certainly enjoy writing it. And don't worry about the part about Yubel, I'll be explaining that in later chapters. For now, please read and review. See you later!
