Sakura was stretched out on the park bench where she and Sasuke had been but a few years ago and then a few years before that. Actually they had met here often. It hurt so much to remember the times of dismissal. The times when she had stuck her neck out only to have it chopped off. Sakura looked up to the stars and tiny pearls fell from her eyes, reflecting the moon. Why was she so stupid? Why did she come here every night in hope that he would come back, in the hopes that they could be together. Sakura closed her eyes and remembered the last words she had heard him say, 'Thank you.'

In her heart Sakura knew that he was thanking her for loving him. She wanted to believe that he loved her too but her heart also told her that this wasn't true. Perhaps he could feel love for her as a sister but nothing more. He could never feel love for her and she had to face that truth. Sakura's tears slowly began to fade and as the last tear fell from her eyes she stood. She place a red rosebud on the bench, something she had never done before.

It was a tribute to a dead love. Sakura had to move on. This was the last night she would ever sit on this bench and wait for him to return. She was done with the hurt that it caused her every morning when he never showed up. She was done with the love she sent out but could never receive. Sakura turned from the bench and walked away. She walked with her head high and her spine straight. She walked to the house of the man that had so long waited for her love to turn to him. It was time that she healed her heart and knew what it was like to be loved back. Sakura knew that Kakashi would show her that.
