"Today is the most wonderful day of the year, citizens of District 12. As you all know, today is the draw for the 75th annual hunger games. May the odds be ever in your favour."
Hello. My name is Primrose Everdeen.
Today was the worst day of my life.
My sister, Katniss competed in the 74th hunger games. She didn't win.
She died.
You see, the hunger games isn't just a regular game.
It's a fight to the death.
And this year-it's my turn.
"Ladies, first!" Efie Trinket said. Her hand shuffled around the bowl and picked up a slip of paper.
This is it.
Please, please don't be me…
I was waiting for the moment of dear dead terror like I had last year before my sister took my place as tribute.
But Katniss is gone now. I'm on my own.
"And our female tribute this year is…Primrose Everdeen!"
No. This can't be happening.
"Well, ladies and gentlemen it seems like we have a two year winner!"
No. No way. This isn't possible.
"Now, for the boys," her hand picks up a slip of paper from the bowl, "this year's winner is ... Tommy Hydrangea! Congratulations!"
Katniss…help me!
Wait.
She's gone.
I'm on my own, now. It's just me.
Primrose Everdeen.
Fighting to the death.
"Wow, look at the time. I am sorry, children, but we are so late through the opening ceremonies we're going to have to skip the family meet up all together."
"That's all right, Effie, I reckon that we are never going to see them again, anyway, so why waste all those tears and stupid farewells." Tommy said rather gravely.
"Oh, come on, Tommy, you have got to stop thinking like that-everyone has a likely chance of winning." Primrose said, half to herself. She was scared, too.
"Are you kidding me, Primrose? Not everyone has a likely chance. The people from District 1,2 and 4 train for years just to volunteer to be in these horrible games!" Tommy shouted. Primrose paled; as much as she wanted to argue back, she knew deep inside that he was right.
"Now, settle down children, the time for killing, even through words is not now. save it up for when you have weapons in the arena."
You can see how the Prim and Tommy do in the arena in my next chapter.
