A sad one-shot that I wrote. R&R please! Don't own "IZ" or any characters.
Dib tried to ignore the whispers behind him.
He hated how everyone treated him; it was just horrible. Every day, it just got worse.
He had been trying to prove that Zim was an alien for almost three years now, but no one ever believed him. He was constantly bullied and made fun of every day at school.
When school was out, he rushed out of the classroom; eager to get home, and hopefully, avoid the bullies. They lurked in the hallways to torture him once the bell rang.
Unfortunately, there they were, waiting for him in the near empty halls. He tried to go around them and pretend like he didn't see them, but they stood in his way.
"Hi Dib, where 'ya goin'?" one of them yelled.
"Off to hunt Bigfoot?" another giggled.
All of them laughed at the humiliation. He endured that almost every day, but for some reason, it really stung today.
"Leave me alone," he muttered.
The bullies just laughed. One of them pushed Dib and another grabbed his backpack. The gang ran away laughing.
Dib sighed and picked himself up off the ground. He straightened his glasses, which had nearly slipped off his nose. A teacher walked passed him.
"Dib, you need to get up off the floor and go home. Some poor blind kid might trip over your massive head and get hurt!" the teacher yelled.
That did it; it was as if something inside Dib just snapped. He calmly got up, and with a glare that could belong to Gaz, he slowly walked through the school doors and walked outside, where it was now raining.
With the same strange, frightening, calm attitude, Dib walked home, either completely unaware of the rain, or ignoring it, much like Gaz.
When he walked through the doors of the Membrane household, Gaz looked up, shocked by the change in Dib's mood. He usually came home excited about something ridiculous that Zim did at school or disappointed by the lack of care Gaz held for his paranormal studies.
Without taking notice of Gaz, he walked up to his room, almost as if he was in a trance. Gaz didn't think much of it and went back to playing her Game Slave.
The next day in the newspaper, the top story was that of Professor Membrane's 13-year-old son's death. He had apparently committed suicide and had left a note pertaining as to the reason why.
To whoever finds this note,
I just couldn't live like this anymore.
Nobody believes me or even cares enough to encourage me to continue in my paranormal studies. You all laugh at me; tell me I'm crazy, and discourage me. You all make fun of me for following my beliefs and dreams.
You think I'm absurd for trying to save Earth and the human race. I… I just can't take it anymore.
I often wonder if this is all worthwhile, and I guess I have my answer. My last request is that this video is played on live T.V. I know this last attempt is useless, but I just don't care.
Dad, Gaz, I hope you remember me in your memories.
-Dib
Next to the note and the location of the dead boy was a CD labeled 'proof'.
Hope you liked it! Sorry if it was so depressing. Also looking for ideas for my fanfics! Still...
