The room was quiet, the air dark and thick. Silence fought for its grip as Sollux let out a small groan in his sleep. An uncomfortable groan, like he was having an unpleasant dream. The black-haired male shifted a little, turning from his back to his side, making another sound of discomfort. Eridan stirred beside him, for he wasn't exactly a light sleeper. He opened his eyes, not like it did much against the darkness, especially without his glasses. He turned to face his boyfriend rustling the blankets, shifting in the way he was. Eridan thought it best to wake Sollux up, after all if it was a bad dream there was no use just being content letting him continue it.
"Sol? Sol, wwake up." Eridan muttered, a bit groggily from still being half asleep. He moved his hand from under the covers to Sollux, holding on to his shoulder and shaking him a bit to wake up. Sollux let out a weak whine, seeming to be regaining consciousness.
"ED? What ith it?" Sollux responded just as sleep-laced, turning to face Eridan.
"You wwere tossin' an' turnin' in your sleep, just wwonderin' if you wwere okay." Sollux yawned a bit, before sighing and responding.
"Yeah, yeah. It wath jutht a bit of a bad dream, nothing wrong."
"Wwhat did ya dream of, if I may ask?" Sollux paused a second, either out of pondering how to answer, or just from his tired mind calling him back to sleep.
"It'th nothing important." Sollux responded, turning back around to face away from Eridan, the other male just watching him.
"Really? Wwon't you just tell me?" Sollux didn't move, and Eridan took it as an answer until hearing a faint whisper.
"Jutht... Thinking about KK again..."
"Still upset about that?" Eridan asked calmly.
"No. I'm completely over that guy now. There'th no reathon to be upthet." Sollux sighed, closing his eyes. "Now if you'll excuthe me, I'm going back to sleep." Sollux pulled the blanket a little further onto himself, signaling he was done with further conversation. Eridan took a deep breath, and moved a bit closer to Sollux, wrapping his arms around him as best as he could. Sollux didn't respond, but smiled nonetheless.
"At least knoww I'll alwways stay wwith you, okay?
"...Yeah. Thankth."
"I love you, Sol." Sollux took a second, before whispering his response.
"I love you too." With that, he turned around to face Eridan again, giving him a light kiss, before falling asleep in his arms.
