Rejecting Your Love

fandom: Harry Potter

pairing: Percy/Oliver

rating: K+

challenge: Confession Challenge by the goodgirldoll

disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter because if I did Percy/Oliver would be cannon and well yeah.

sumary: Takes place in OoP Oliver confesses to Percy that he thinks Percy cares more about the Ministry than he does for him.

A/N: This story went in a direction I didn't originally plan on it going, but I think I've done a decent job with it. It's also the first time I've written this pairing. I've liked Percy/Oliver for a while but have never had the courage to write them until now.

Percy came home late to find Oliver sitting on the couch in the dark in the middle of their flat's living room. "Oliver, love, what are you doing up? It's late and you should be resting for your match tomorrow, "Percy asked.

"Percy, we need to talk," Oliver replied standing up.

"All right, "Percy responded confused, "is something wrong?"

"Percy, you've been really distant lately. Most of the time you come home real late and leave real early, and when you don't you are always talking about work and the Ministry. You never come to my practices or matches anymore. You stopped talking to your family and you act like they don't exist. At Christmas you sent back the sweater your mother makes for you every year. I feel that you care more about the Ministry than me. I feel like I don't know you anymore. I don't recognize you anymore. I think we need to take a break, "Oliver admitted feeling like a huge weight had been lifted off of his shoulders.

Percy didn't respond he just stared at him in shock. All of a sudden Percy's shoulders began to shake and he started crying. Oliver wrapped his arms around the crying Weasley and set them both down on the couch with Percy on his laps while he rubbed soothing circles on Percy's back. "Sh, sh, Perce, it's all right?" Oliver whispered trying to sooth him. It was uncomfortable to see Percy who was always in control loose it like this.

"N-no, it's not. Ol, y-you… want to b-break …up w-with m-me," Percy balled into Oliver's shoulder.

"Percy, listen to me it wasn't an idea. I was upset I don't really want to break up with you," Oliver replied trying to get the red head to stop crying.

"Don't lie t-to me, Oliver… I kn-know you r-really do want to b-break up. W-why would you want to s-stay with me," Percy said the tears slowing, "I'm j-just a Ministry loving, family-disowning, power hungry prat."

"Percy, I was scared that I was losing you. I realize now that I'm not. Now, relax, love, I'm not breaking up with you and I'm not going anywhere," Oliver said pulling the slightly calmer Weasley closer to him.

Percy pushing away from Oliver asked, "Oliver, are you sure about this? Remember everything you just finished telling me. None of that is going to change anytime soon. I'm still going to be busy with the Ministry…"

"Percy, you just reassured me that it isn't going to stay this way," Oliver interrupted.

"How did I do that?" Percy asked.

"You were crying, you obviously would be heartbroken if I left and I know that I still mean the world to you," Oliver said before kissing the red head. It took a few seconds for Percy to process everything that had happened and what Oliver was doing before he started kissing back with renewed eagerness.
