A/N: I go by the idea that Wicked takes place around 1900, seeing as that is when the Wonderful Wizard of Oz (the book) was made, and it's not like that takes place in the future or anything. And I know hair dye was invented a few years after 1900, but let's just say somebody in Oz came up with it before somebody did in our dimension…unless you so happen to be an Ozian reading this.
Disclaimer: I don't own Wicked. Gregory MaGuire created Wicked. And yes, a couple of lines were inspired from the Wicked Witch of the East scene, even though this is takes place a nice amount of time before the Wicked Witch of the East scene.

Nessarose Thropp had once told herself years ago that she would never change herself for a boy. That wasn't true anymore, though.
She looked at herself in the mirror, not quite sure about her opinion on her new appearance. She knew she was the same, but she almost looked like a different girl in the mirror. She was also partly worried that Boq would figure out exactly why she changed some of her appearance. And in reality, she did like the way she looked before better.
Not that she didn't like blonde hair or blue eyes, but she didn't know if they looked quite right with her. She was used to the girl in the mirror with brunette hair, brown eyes, and pale skin…not the girl in the mirror with the blonde hair, blue eyes, and slightly sun burned skin from an attempt at tanning.
She had gotten her hair dyed blonde. It was an attempt to maybe impress Boq a bit. She also got blue contact lenses. Plus, she tried to tan. That resulted in sun burn, though.
She had dyed her hair a different shade of blonde than Glinda had, though. It was more of a dirty blonde than a light, almost bleach blonde. And she got dark blue eye contacts rather than light blue. That way, maybe Boq wouldn't figure out that the reason she did all these things were to impress him by looking a little bit like Glinda.
Most of her doubted it would work, but a little bit of her was hoping that it would. She actually really hoped it would.
All she wanted was for him to love her, and she was willing to do almost anything for that to occur. She didn't want to be alone and loveless.
