Prologue
The Ice Kingdom had been in a state of unrest for years before she was born. Princess Catarina was the pride of the kingdom representing the beauty of the land. She had crystal blue eyes and her hair was pure white. Her skin was a silky cream color and her lips were the fairest pink. Although during those years there was a dark side to the beautiful kingdom, his name was Marcus and he wanted all the power over the kingdom. His dark blue hair fell to his shoulders and his midnight blue eyes seemed emotionless and sucked all happiness away. He always wore black in contrast to the princess's wonderful dresses.
One fine day, the threat of civil war drawing closer, an elf entered the kingdom. No one wanted to welcome the strange guest, but through the kindness of her heart Catarina allowed him to enter the castle. When the elf entered the castle Catarina was captivated by what she saw. The young elf's shoulder length wind blown hair was a brilliant silver while his vibrant green eyes stared back at the beautiful ice princess. The elf was slender but looked to have a masculine figure.
"Welcome. If you need rest there are rooms down the hall to your left, and the dining room is at the end of the hall to your right. I am Catarina. There are plenty of servants here who will help you," Catarina stated while the elf began to look around the castle and take in every small detail, "Enjoy your stay, but please do not venture away from the castle and into the village. May I ask you your name?"
"My name is Michael, Miss Catarina. Your house is very beautiful," Michael replied softly still staring in wonder at the castle. The two were inseparable for the next few months, during this time Marcus became more powerful and his hunger to control the kingdom grew greater. The villages also grew wary of the stranger named Michael and their patience with him began to fade.
On a stormy night with lightning streaking the sky the villagers decided to show Michael and Catarina that their patience had worn thin. Because of the threat to Michael's life Catarina and Michael ran from the kingdom in fright. "My people would have never done this to you if it hadn't been for that darn Marcus," Catarina exclaimed. Deciding the her people had become too violent she fled to an elven village and changed her appearance so no one could find her. Her disappearance had its consequences and the kingdom was thrown into the turmoil of civil war.
The civil war lasted for three years before Marcus claimed the thrown for himself. Over the next sixteen years a darkness fell over the once bright and cheerful kingdom, but two important children were born. One child was the daughter of Catarina, while the other was the son of Marcus. Both children inherited their parents powers and could either save the kingdom from its darkness or thrust it into an even darker darkness.
