Make Her Pay - 1
Though she'd never admit it, it actually took Terezi far longer than she had expected to realize what had happened.
WHY 1S TH3 WORLD SO D4RK? she thought. 1 4M PR3TTY SUR3 1T 1S SUPPOS3D TO B3 MORN1NG NOW.
But it was morning and she knew it. She could feel the warmth on her face and the cool grass beneath her fingers. She couldn't see the sunlight but she knew it was there.
"Why am I outside?" she said aloud.
Yet even at this point, she still was unwilling to believe what she knew in her heart was true. Perhaps her eyes were closed and she was being a stupid little wriggler. Perhaps she had somehow forgotten how to open her eyes and she would have to manually force them open. Then she would see.
She knew she was lying to herself before she even reached up to touch her eyes. After all, her lusus had taught her how to see without eyes while she slept. She wouldn't have been taught such a thing if she had no need for it.
Terezi slumped back against the grass, staring sightlessly up at the treetops. Well, then. What should she do first? The answer seemed pretty clear.
She needed to get a bitchin' pair of shades.
