I remember placing my head down on my desk, obeying my dad's orders although he wasn't even there. I was on the verge of tears when Eleni asked me what was wrong. I shrugged and she gave me a small smile, then she walked away.
I wanted to rock. I felt as if that was what I was born to do. Rebel against my dad and do what he hated most. Musical fusion, is how Mr. S described it to my best friend Freddy a few days before.
I saw Mr. S walk into the room and say stuff about how rock isn't supposed to be perfect. I sat up but kept my arms crossed. Mr. S asked for people to bad-mouth him. Freddy of course, took up with pride. Rather good insult really. Then Alicia, Summer and then Lawrence. God, I can't stand that kid. He's just so...UGH. I don't get why I don't like him all that much, just too, I dunno...quiet to hang with my friends.
Mr. S said a couple of more things about what we makes us mad more than anything in the world. I wanted to yell out: MY DAD, but then everyone would know I had some sort of 'dysfunctional family'.
Leonard said 'bullies'. Bully is the perfect word to describe 'daddy dearest'. Mr. S came up to me and asked me what I'd say to a bully.
He saw something. He heard something. He was doing this on purpose, I knew it.
"I don't know."
Apparently 'I don't know' doesn't get off to well with Mr. S.
"If someone was up in your grill, what'd you say?"
"I don't know."
He wouldn't take that for an answer. Mr. S must've seen my dad yelling at me that morning when I was talking about Jimi Hendrix. Come on, what's wrong with that subject? I'd do ANYTHING to get my parents to talk to me about rock music they liked 'back then'. But for some reason, The Beatles must've been the only band back then, because they won't say anything else.
"If someone was pushing you around, what'd you say?"
I said the first thing that came to my mind. He asked, and he got it.
"Step off?"
All of a sudden, chords from his electric guitar came into my ears. And he was singing the 2 words that had exited from my mouth.
"Step off, step off, step off, step off, step off!"
Before I knew it, everyone was chanting 'step off'. I sat there confused and turned around to face the band. The only time they'd performed a song without me.
I got into 'the spirit' of things and started chanting along with them. We all ended up laughing in the end.

At lunch, I figured then would be a good time to say 'great lesson' to Mr. Sheenbly.
I got up from my table and walked over to the staff table. Everyone was laughing from what I could see. I took a deep breath and walked up to him.
"Hey Mr. Sheenbly."
He turned to face me.
"Hey Zack!"
I started to nod my head uncontroabily.
"I jus' wanted to say, that was a really cool lesson today."
I could see the brightness flow into his face as I said that. Apparently I had just made his day.
"Aww, thanks dude! I'll see you back in class!" he replied nodding along with me. I chuckled.
"Mkay."
I walked away from the table and took my seat next to Katie and Gordon. Freddy leaned across the table.
"What the hell was that about?" he asked, nodding towards Mr. S.
I rolled my eyes and chuckled.
"Nothing." I replied. Freddy reclined in his chair to get a better glance of Mr. Sheenbly. He shrugged, placed his chair back down, and flung a tator-tot at Summer with his fork.
