I approached the shoreline as the sun peeked on the horizon. I spotted the silhouette of a tall figure. Instinct told me this was the man I needed to speak to. As I strode toward him, he turned to face my direction. A smile broke across his aged face as he recognized me.
"Ah, Scarlett, you are a spitting image of your father. As you might know, I'm Takakura." He grinned, studying my face. "Your dad's old farm is waiting for you."
I nodded and smiled, ready to begin the journey ahead of me.
The two of us walked side by side as we approached the run-down farm. Displayed in front of me there was a vast fenced field, and I recognized my soon to be home. A warm feeling washed over me as I took it all in. Scattered about, tall trees sprouted their spring flowers.
"How about I give you a little tour of the farm?" Takakura questioned.
"Sure, that would be great." I responded, overlooking the ranch.
I followed him down the trail toward the buildings that were unknown to me.
"First we have the barn. You can keep cows, horses, and sheep here. You can have a look inside whenever you want. Next door is the tool shed," he explained, while I nodded along. Then he turned around and faced a tall building, "This is the food storage, put whatever you want to sell in here and I'll take it to the city the next day."
We turned and passed a house towards a small building with a blue roof.
"This is the chicken coop, you can raise chickens here."
We then heard small barking in the distance, and turned to find a beagle puppy bounding our way. I kneeled down to pet the little guy.
"You know, I am not so fond of dogs.." Takakura began, before trailing off.
"Well, it's only one dog, and seems awfully friendly!" I pleaded, looking him in the eye.
He sighed, "Ah, fine. You win."
A smile broadened across my face, "Thanks! I'll name him Kapp'n."
"Alright, I'll build him a dog house soon." he added, before moving onto the house next to a small field. "This will be your new home. Mine is down next to the food storage. Oh, by the way, I have to show you something."
I followed him while he strode toward the barn. Upon entering, I noticed a female cow standing in front of a feed trough.
"I bought you a female cow, for milk. What would you like to name her?" Takakura inquired.
"Hmm... I like Winnie."
"Sounds good. Well, it's late, you should get some rest. See you tomorrow." he said, and exited the barn.
I made my way back, and I settled into my house. Later that night, I laid in bed and pulled out my diary from my rucksack.
"Dear Diary,
I finally made it here! It feels great, to live on my own, to breathe the crisp air..its so peaceful. This land seems quite large, I hope I can run the farm well and live up to my father's name. Takakura showed me around and gave me the rundown of the place. Tomorrow I look forward to meeting all those in the town, and starting my farm work. Well, that is all for now,
Goodnight."
Author's note: Heya, so this is my first fanfic, ever. Kokiricat and I wrote this lil thing together and I hope you all can enjoy it! We decided to use an original name instead of the usual Jill or Pony. Those names didn't speak to me, they didn't ooze good vibes, you feel me? Thank you for reading, if you read it..reviews are well appreciated! Okay, I am going to get more tea now. Ciao!
