Will Graham sprinted down the sidewalk, running towards Hannibal Lecter's house. Rain hit his face as he ran. He came to a stop in front of the walkway leading up to the front door. A few feet in front of him, he could barely make out a person on the ground. He jogged to the person. When he reached them, he realised it was Alana. He fell to his knees by her side.
"Alana?" Will whispered. It was only loud enough for him to hear, but loud enough for him to register that Alana was, in fact, on the ground. Her face was spattered with blood. She was surrounded by shattered glass and splintered pieces of wood. Alana tried to say something, but instead of words, blood came bubbling out of her lips. Will pulled his jacket off quickly. He placed it gently on top of Alana.
Again, Alana tried to say something, but again, blood poured out of her mouth and down her cheek. Will was shocked at the sight. He reached for his phone to dial 911 when Alana grabbed his shirt. Will noticed her hands were coated in blood and covered in cuts. That's when he saw the pool of blood coming from under Alana's head.
Will got his phone out of his pocket, desperate, fumbling fingers attempting to hit the right numbers. On the third try, Will successfully dialed emergency services.
"911, what is your emergency?" A voice on the other side of the line asked professionally. Alana began choking on blood. Will almost froze.
"I-I'm Will Graham. I need ERT at Ha... Hannibal Lecter's residence," Will whimpered into the phone's receiver. His hands were shaking so badly, he dropped the phone. Alana clutched Will's shirt tighter. Tears started streaming down Will's face.
"W-Will?" Alana breathed, more blood trickling out. Will leaned close to her, putting his hand on her cheek very gently.
"What is it, Alana?" Will asked, barely able to talk himself. Alana's head rolled to the right. Her breathing became shallower.
"W-Will... I-it..."
"Alana! Alana, no, no, no, please, no... What is it? Alana!" Will rambled, desperate to keep Alana alive. He bent down so that his face was inches from Alana's.
"It should have been y... you..." The words were accompanied by more blood. Alana started choking worse. Will broke down completely. Alana's grip loosened as her breathing came to a stop. Will fell onto the ground beside her, ignoring the pieces of glass pushing into his side.
In his hospital bed, Will Graham woke abruptly. He was hyperventilating and clutching the side of the bed. A nurse came running in to check on him. When she tried to touch him, he began thrashing around. She rushed to give him sedatives. Before he drifted off to sleep, tears still running down his face, a name escaped his lips.
"Alana."
