"Go away, Potter!" Lily Evans' voice echoed across Hogwarts. "Ah, come on, Evans. Just one date and I'll leave you alone," James Potter retorted. "You know what? Fine. You have until the end of the day to impress me. Last chance, James." And with that, Lily whirled away in a flash of red. James stood rooted to the spot for a minute and then realized that he had to get moving. "Padfoot! Moony! Wormtail! I need help!"

The Marauders had stolen a guitar from Filch's office (who knows why he had one) and James' plan was about to begin. "James?" Remus Lupin turned to his friend. "Are you sure about this?" "Dearest Remmy, I've never been surer of anything in my entire life." Remus sighed. "Alright, whatever. It's your head." "That's the spirit!" Sirius Black bellowed, thumping his friend on the shoulder. The werewolf rubbed his shoulder and grimaced. "Let's go, men," James spoke up, finally showing some signs of fear. The four boys marched outside for what could possibly be James' final stand.

Finding Lily seated under the tree by the lake, James smirked and began strumming his guitar. The redhead looked up and rolled her eyes, sparing James a small smile. The dark-haired boy opened his mouth and began singing with newfound courage.

Lily's eyes are like a jungle

She smiles, it's like the radio

She whispers songs into my window

In words that nobody knows

There's pretty boys on every corner

That watch her as she's walking home

Saying, does she know?

Will you ever know?

The green-eyed girl laughed and began walking away. But James wouldn't be turned away so easily. He knew that this was his final shot with the girl of his dreams. This moment could make or break his future. Okay, maybe he was being a bit dramatic. Even so, this was a huge moment for him. So he followed Lily and continued.

You're beautiful

Every little piece ,love, don't you know

You're really gonna be someone, ask anyone

When you find everything you looked for

I hope your life leads you back to my door

Oh, but if it don't, stay beautiful

Lily blushed immensely. James was making a fool out of himself for her… and it was actually really sweet. "Very nice, James. You can stop now." "Oh, but Lilyflower, I'm not done yet," James said with a cocky grin. And he wasn't.

Lily finds another way to be

The highlight of my day

I'm taking pictures in my mind

So I can save them for a rainy day

It's hard to make conversation

When she's taking my breath away

I should say, hey, by the way,

You're beautiful

Every little piece, love, don't you know

You're really gonna be someone, ask anyone

When you find everything you looked for

I hope your life leads you back to my door

Oh, but if it don't, stay beautiful

Lily strolled into the Gryffindor common room, feigning ignorance to the guitar-wielding boy trailing her. Sitting down on a red chair, she buried her nose in a book as James serenaded her.

If you and I are a story

That never gets told

If what you are is a daydream

I'll never get to hold

At least you'll know…

You're beautiful,

Every little piece ,love, don't you know

You're really gonna be someone, ask anyone

And when you find everything you looked for,

I hope your life leads you back to my front door

Oh, but if it don't, will you stay

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful

Lily stood up and walked over to James, nodding in approval. James dropped the guitar and wrapped his arms around her, finishing the song acapella.

Lalalala,

Oh, oh oh oh

Oh, but if it don't,

Stay beautiful

Stay beautiful

Na na na na na

James leaned down and crooned the final line in the redhead's ear, driving her crazy. Lily stood up on her toes and kissed him hard. When the pair separated for air, James smiled and said, "Stay beautiful, love."
