Wells of Konoha
Bludy Valentine
Draft 1

"Can I draw some water, baby?
From your well?
Can I draw some water, baby?
Mine has failed."
The workman sighed as he found his well was, once again, missing it's bucket. He wiped his hands on his patched shirt. He patted his old guard-fox on the head and headed up the long road.
"The bucket wont come up,
No matter how hard I crank.
The bucket wont come up,
I think it sank."
He walked into the house slowly, his tattered overalls and beaten boots very different from the lavish curtains and perfect wooden floors. The butler looked down his nose as he listened to the man explain his visit.
"I walk the road, between your house and mine
I hope the bridge hasn't collapsed.
I hope the man at the gate will help me through,
unless he's holding on to you."
The butler sniffed as he led the workman to the parlour, where the workman sat on a armchair that looked quite antique. The butler left the room quickly, wiping his hands on a handkerchief and muttering about how gutter-trash was soiling his family's home.
"How has your garden grown?
Is there fruit on your trees?
Do you need a laborer
to pull up those weeds?"
The Lady swooped in, a warm smile on her pale face as her gray eyes met the blue ones of the workman. She sat down across a coffeetable fro him, holding her gloved hands in her lap as the workman began talking.
"Oh I am so lonely, baby,
In my house on the hill.
O I am so lonely, baby,
The silence kills."
The Lady nodded and snapped, summoning the butler. She instructed him on what to do, and the butler left as soon as he had appeared. The workman smiled in appreciation, nd The Lady smiled back.
"I walk the road, between your house and mine.
I hope the bridge hasnt collapsed.
I hope the man at the gate will help me through,
unless he's holding on to you."
The butler returned, a bucket in his hands, and the workman stood and accepted it gratefully. The butler only snorted, quietly enough that The Lady couldn't hear. The workman bade his farewell to The Lady, and he made his departure. The Lady smiled and sighed happily.
"Yeah, I wanna hold you,
squeeze you,
love you,
need you,
feel you,
touch you,
_ you,
save you,
raise you,
see you,
everywhere i turn, i need to know
Are you gonna wait, and be there, when I get home?
I'm crossing the bridge, 1000 miles to roam.
It's worth the wait, and nights alone, so far from home,
and girl you've grown.
Come on girl keep moving on."
The workman carved 'N+H' into the bucket before he hooked it into the well and lowered it, drawing water for the livestock. He smiled and whistled as he worked, his day brightened by the meeting with his Lady.
"I wish that I could sit,
In your garden again,
And watch the stars at night,
from your bed."
The Lady sat in her drawing room, looking dreamily out the window towards the ramshackle house on the next hill. She saw the blond workman going into his foxhouse. presumably to feed the newborn kits he had mentioned during his visit. She brushed her lavender hair as she smiled at her workman.
"I walk the road, between your house and mine,
I hope the bridge hasn't collapsed,
I hope the man at the gate will hep me through,
unless he's holding on to you."
That night, The Lady sent the lazy stableboy to the next hill, to steal the bucket from the workman's well, as she did every night, just to see the workman she loved. Also that night, the workman allowed the lazy stableboy to steal his bucket, so he could see the Lady he loved.
