"Hello again!" I said to the girl that walked through the door. "Here to buy more violets?"

"No, I'd like to buy a special flower today." She said.

"Special? How so?"

"Well I don't think you'd even have the thing, it's.. kind of a weird one I actually shouldn't bother you with it."

"You'd be surprised, come on just tell me and I'll see if we can get you one."

She stood their blushing for about ten seconds staring down at her shoes before she spoke again.

"I'd like you to get me a blue rose." She said.

'Blue? Why blue, and not say white or red? Or even a tiger rose?' I thought to myself.

"Hm.." I glared in thought.

"See I knew you wouldn't hav-"

"I never said that! I told you I'll try best to get you the flower you need. But may I ask first, why a blue rose?" I asked her, in a smile that could be seen as maybe too friendly.

"It's for a friend, you know the one I talked about last time I was here."

"Oh yeah, the one you see each time you stop by my store?"

"Erm... yes." She said embarrassed.

"Well I'll see if I can find one. Stay here just a moment and I'll look through my roses."

"Alright."

The girl had come to the shop a handful of times before. Often times she'd be with a friend or two and they'd pick out whatever flowers they wanted that I had at the time. I heard her say one of her friends name was Valerie, but I never got Her name. She never told me and neither did her friends, though I told everyone who came in the store what my name was. Erik, the weird flower girl with a boys name.

I looked around but I knew I wouldn't find a blue rose, they don't exist naturally. You have to take a white rose and dye all the pedals with a soft blue. The dye has to be soft in order to not damage, or worse, kill the flower. Knowing I hadn't made a blue rose in over a year or two I went to look for my rose dye. Thankfully I still had a small bottle of it. I took the dye and then headed over to my rose garden I set up in shop. A small few of white roses surrounded by a hundred others from the lightest pink to the darkest crimson. Looking around I saw that 2 of the roses were almost the perfect shade of white but hadn't bloomed yet, and the other, while was fully bloomed still retained a small amount of pink in the pedals. Wanting the colour to be spot on I took one of the two roses that were still closed, picking the one that seemed most open, and carefully stained drops of indigo on each pedal, lightened to blue from the white pedals. The dye dries in a few seconds so it's a somewhat precision task.

I took the pot to the front of the building, where the girl had been waiting.

"Here you are miss."

Her face lit up in joy the moment she saw the flower.

"Thank you so much!" She squealed in happiness.

"You're very welcome, miss. It wasn't easy but I got what you asked for, one blue rose, ready to take to your friend.

She thanked me so much I thought I might have to tell her to stop, but she finished her thanks. I gave the flower to her to take to her friend, whoever they may be, and she walk to the door. It was right there that I remembered for as much as she had been in my store I never knew her name.

"Hey wait a sec!" I shouted to her. "You've been here a hundred times and I never got your name!"

"Oh?" She stood for a second. "Oh that's right I'm sorry. I always forget to introduce myself. My name's Shannon!"

I gave a smile, not a big smile but still the biggest I could've at the time. "Well it was nice having you here Shannon! Do come back to tell me how it goes with the friend you're giving that flower to, alright!"

"Thanks" she giggled. "Yeah, sure thing, Erik. You'll be the first to know, I promise!" She said as she left the store.

Shannon showed up at the shop the next day and gave the same flower back to me. She was blushing.

"So... Wanna tell me how it goes, Erik?"
