Stone is too rough of an analogy for the delicate lines of your face.

Something like glass or ice might seem more appropriate, but I know you've never been that breakable. Or transparent.

I'm starting to think that I'm the only fragile one here, because you're walking past me, footsteps sure and solid, while I try to imagine what I should be feeling.

"Your mind's made up?"

I almost wish you had a heart right now. It might make this a little harder for you. Something heavy in your chest might have pinned you here a little longer.

But I suppose hearts for us would be paperweights for the blind.

"You get on their bad side and they'll destroy you!"

That probably didn't matter to you, since our bodies was the only vulnerable things we carried.

"No one would miss me."

You're walking away from me, and I wish not for the first time that we were different people. Real people. Not flat, color copies of someone else.

Not for the first time, I wonder what we would have done if our destinies had been our own.
