A/N: As per usual, I own nothing. Enjoy, and please review.
It had been ten years since Major General Jonathan 'Jack' O'Neill had become leader of SG-1. Ten years since he, Dr Daniel Jackson, Lt Col Samantha Carter and Teal'c had first stepped through the Stargate together, as a team.
Having spent seven years in command of the SG-1 team, O'Neill's life had certainly been changed for the better. He knew he had friends that would always be there for him, even if they were dead (Daniel had proved that one several times).
At first he thought that Daniel was a big geek who couldn't figure out how to fire a gun. Now, he was his best friend. He had a great deal of respect for the archaeologist and valued his friendship highly. He'd suffered so much over the decade Jack had known him, but he never gave up. He always kept fighting. He was the kind of person who would give his life for someone he didn't even know because it was the right thing to do and never let a little thing like death put him down.
He had never believed that a woman could fight in the army until he met Sam, the object of his affection. However, they could never be, their jobs forbade it. It sounded like a trashy romance novel. Sam had saved his ass more times than he could count. She wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed in or fight for women's rights and he admired that.
Teal'c, the brawn of the group. Jack had liked him from the beginning. He was strong, tall and had knowledge of the enemy. He was an alien, yet he appeared to know more about Earth than Jack did sometimes. The SGC had accepted him as one of there own. He had become like a brother to the General.
Janet Fraiser. She had died so young. Met a fate she didn't deserve. She helped so many, saved dozens of lives, only to have it all end with a bullet to the chest. She wasn't afraid to put people in their places when their health was concerned. Jack had always thought she and Daniel would have made a good couple. She was small in height, but had a big heart.
Cameron Mitchell, his replacement. The kid had a lot of spirit and energy. He was always up to try new things and had become like a son to him. He had the determination to bring SG-1 back together again and the insanity to lead them. Jack had warned him about the dangers of SG-1, but that did little to dissuade him.
He'd only met Vala Mal Doran a handful of times. His first impressions of her were that she was a horny con artist with a thing for Daniel. But he had been assured that she was a kind person deep down. Really deep down. She had proved to be a vital member of the team and was always willing to try something new.
However, the person Jack thought had changed the most over the last ten years, was himself. He had learnt the true value of friendship and love. He had learnt the true meaning of pain and loss. And most importantly, he learnt never to give up.
