The trainer had sent him a riddle to test his intelligence. If he couldn't decipher the instructions, he wasn't worth the training. It had required lots of research in both Wizard and Muggle resources, and he couldn't ask Hermionie for help. That was one of the conditions.
He'd barely met the deadline to arrive at the redevous point. A figure in a dark clothes, a black knee-length cape, and a wide-brimmed hat, and wearning a Guy Fawkes mask had appeared and shown him to a dingy apartment. There was a cot in the corner, a beat-up wooden table, and two hard straight-back chairs. The figure indicated he was to sit in one of the chairs. It wobbled...
"So, you want training on how to defeat your Dark Lords, do you?" it rasped out.
Harry said,"Yes, it's going to be me or him and I want it to be me, both for my friends and my own sake".
"Ah, a good reason indeed. You passed the Test of Intelligence by making it to our rendevous point within the deadline. Well, let's begin the second test. Lay your hands flat on the table, please."
Harry did so.
Suddenly, there was an ICE PICK nailing his hand to the table! Harry yelped in pain.
The figure took his wand before Harry saw him move, then threw it on the cot.
"I'm going back out to my job at Inland Revenue. We're going to be working over-time today, so I'll be gone for quite some time. You can remove that ice-pick at any time, but if it isn't still the way I put it when I get back, I won't train you. This is the Test of Will. Goodbye."
The figure walked out the door.
Harry thought, "Damn, I KNEW I shouldn't have drunk that Double Gulp."
(Yeah, elements nicked from both Angel:the Series, and V for Vendetta.)
