Uncle left but I could not remain still; the voice I had heard in my sleep was too insistent. It sounded like she was really in great danger. How could I remain home?
I took the lamp and headed out into the storm. Guards were everywhere as I rushed through the driving rain. It soaked me to the skin and I pushed my hair out of my eyes as I hurried towards the Palace.
The guards at the gate yelled through the storm for me to go home. I hurried around the great wall and followed an overgrown path as I searched for a way into the Palace. I couldn't stop until I'd found the owner of that strange voice.
I finally found a hole under a bush and jumped down landing in a bowl of fetid water. I got up when I heard the sound of a sword and rushed down the hall.
I found only my Uncle, bleeding and near death. He turned to me his eyes almost completely clouded.
"Link I didn't want to get you involvedā¦"
I tried to tell him to stop talking and I would find a way to carry him back to our home. The strange voice I had heard was forgotten as I tried to bind his wounds.
"Take my sword, you must find Zelda."
Zelda! That was the same name the strange voice had uttered in my dreams! I clutched the sword and small shield that I knew were the heirlooms of our family; passed down from an ancient Knight of Hyrule.
"Remember what I taught you; remember the secret techniques of our peopleā¦" his voice began to fade.
I clutched at his sleeve as his eyes finally closed and he breathed his last.
I stood up slowly as tears rushed down my face. I would find Zelda. I would do it for my Uncle, the last family I had left.
I walked slowly down the corridor; alone in the darkness.
