The alarms pounded in my ears as I ran through corridors; blasting my way through space pirates that seemed more concerned with killing me even though Tourin was going to explode around them in a matter of minutes.
The exploration of this planet had taken a better part of a day as I explored the rebuilt sections and retraced my route several times searching for weapons and ammunition.
In less than four minutes it was going to be destroyed.
A long fall down a metal lined pit led to a new open area of platforms. The ground began to rumble but I didn't stop to consider what that meant. I leapt into the air catching a high platform and bounding between them.
"Hyper" was still flashing in the corner of my visor but I didn't dare to stop and think of the metroid that had given its life to save mine. The warnings on my visor informed me that room was quickly filling with acid.
I blasted my way through another space pirate; my blood pounding in my ears as I ran. I blasted through two more and almost came to a halt wondering if I was at the end my road for good.
A solid metal wall was staring at me from the end of the corridor but the hyper beam passed through the second space pirate and penetrated the wall. I rushed through the explosion and the resulting hole and appeared in a very familiar shaft.
I didn't waste time feeling nostalgic as I hurried up the shaft noting some familiar life signs in my scanner as I reached the top and ran through the cave where I'd started my adventure.
I didn't pause to think as I threw myself down another shaft. This detour could be the end of me once and for all but if there was a chance there were a few life forms left that weren't space pirates I had to rescue them.
Besides, what was life without a little added adventure?
