"I want a hippopotamus for Christmas,
Only a hippopotamus will do,
I want a hippopotamus for Chrismas
And not a red balloon."
"Sirius, will you please stop singing that song." Remus grated out.
"But why!?" Sirius whined, "It's such a good song."
Rumus sighed and continued on with his work, hoping that his boyfriend would stop if he ignored him. No such luck, it seemed. Sirius continued to sing that song for the following two weeks before Christmas. Everytime he started singing someone would always yell at him. He had even sang this to Professor McGonagall when she had asked him what he wanted.
Remus started getting an idea in his head after the first week. If a hippopotamus was what he wanted, well, then it's only fair that he gets one, right?
Christmas morning dawned bright and quite...Not for long. Soon the common rooms were full of voices and laughter. The Maruaders came down and jumped into thier own piles of presents, tearing the wrapping off and talking and laughing with everyone else.
"What? This one says it's from Snivillus! Why wuld he send me a gift?" Sirius asked his friends in shock.
"I don't know, but Dumbledore checks all gifts for curses before he sends them up here." James replied with equal amount of shock and curiousity.
"Open it!" Peter squeaked.
Sirius shrugged and opened it. It had two parts, a small box and what felt like a book. He sighed and opened the box first. Well, he tried to open the box first.
"What the hell?!"
"I think you need to open the other part first." Remus reasoned.
Sirius shrugged again and opened the smaller one. He was right, it was a book, a journal by the looks of it. He snorted and then opened the box. Inside the box was a very soft and, dare he admit it, very cute stuffed animal.
Sirius' jaw dropped when he saw what the stuffed animal was.
"Oh, I am sooo going to strangle him." He groaned as everyone else laughed a him.
He had received a light blue stuffed hippopotamus.
"Hey, Sirius, the book has something written on it now." James pointed out.
Sure enough, the book was now titled How to Care for Your Hippopotamus.
Sirius groaned. Then he started to laugh. Once he had calmed down enough he started opening the other presents, most were from people he didn't know very well.
They were all hippos' in various poses, shapes, sizes, colors, and materials. By the tme he had finished he had a whole collection of hippos' and he couldn't stop laughing.
"I think this is the best Chrismas yet." He laughed as his friends nodded their heads and laughed along as well.
"Come on, let's go get breakfast now." Peter suggested.
So they all got up and headed down to the Great Hall. When they entered the great hall it was filled with balloons. Big red balloons. Sirius started to laugh again and didn't stop till they got seated. Sitting in his usual spot was a small gift that was the size of a snitch. It was also adressed to him. And it was a tiny little hipppotamus figurine. He looked up at the table and saw McGonagall smirking at him. He grinned and started on his breakfast.
"So, do you think you have enough?" Remus asked him.
"Nope." He grinned at his boyfriend and, momentarily latching on to Remus' lips, he went back to his food.
Well, folks, what do you think? Please review and tell me.
