A silent shadow flit across the starlit sky. The moon beamed down and through the shadow's ethral mane. The dark pony lifted her face to bathe in the white glow of the eternal moon as she lifted it into the sky. Her dark crown shimmered as she soared over a sleeping village. The destruction left by the past mayhem, left young fillies and colts terrorized by nightmares. The soaring pony felt their fears became her own and was saddened that she cannot do anything but comfort them in their sleep. But there are just too many...

A tear fell from her eye as she turned to the moon's beauty for guidance. A thousand years. A thousand years has passed since she felt...anything. She is still a young filly at heart but has to keep her cover for her sister's sake. The responsibility of raising the moon is hers once again but... The children's silent cries is gripping her heart tighter than ever.

The moon shimmered down on the dark pony. Rays of soft light enveloped her, hugging her in it's embrace. She smiled as the moon grew brighter and filled her heart with a song.

Closing her eyes, she descended to the ground. She began to hum 'Come little children, we'll take thee away, into a land of enchantment. Come little children, the time's come to play, here in my garden of shadows.'

The moon sang along as it descended it's soft rays onto the restless and terrorized young ones. The moon continued to sing with the humming pony as their terror melted away to joy and smiles.

The pony continued to hum as she walked through the silent village. Her heart began soaring on the joy of the young ones, her hooves left the ground as she hummed to the sleeping ponies. Spreading her wings, the moon carried her high on the winds of equestria. She felt no guilt. No sorrow. No fear. Just the night's mysterious warmth wrapping around her like a blanket. The moon's watchful eye, keeping everypony safe for yet another night.

She flew off to prepare her land for her future. For her children of the night.

This was inspired by the song and fanmade PMV "Children of the Night". I highly recommend go looking it up.

Thanks and Review~
