Part 1- At Times We Fall

Chapter 1- Amidst the Rubble
Shoto desperately tore through the rubble with his bare hands, paying no mind to of the bits shrapnel cutting his skin, searching for a single outstretched arm amid the crumbled building. Some of the rocks he touched froze and some melted into magma—dripping between his fingers. He had difficulty controlling his quirk under such intense amounts of stress.
The air was so thick with dust that he could hardly see aside from blinding flashes of light in quick succession. The ground trembled for a few straight seconds and large chunks of broken concrete rained down from above, narrowly avoiding Shoto's head.
"Bakugo, what are you doing? That isn't safe!" Shoto scolded his classmate. What kind of idiot thought making more explosions was a good idea in this situation? At least Shoto had the common sense to not be using his quirk right now. Intentionally, at least.
"I'm saving people, dumbass!" Katsuki yelled out blindly, not a clue as to which direction Shoto was standing in. "What are you doing, Icy-Hot?" He barked.
Shoto was already tense enough as it was—without Katsuki screaming at him and generally making everything worse. Despite his frustration at not being out there and help the rest of his classmates, Shoto's lack of a Provisional Licence forced him to stay back on the sidelines. Well, he figured, unfortunate for me but a lucky break for the victims trapped under this building. He really didn't need Katsuki's attitude and hasty actions to make this more difficult than it already was.
He could only hope that everyone else had made quick work of the League of Villains. He had no way of knowing how his peers were faring in the fight and it honestly made him a bit anxious. He was quite confident at this point that they would be emerging from the rubble with a few scratches here and there, but he still held on to the thin string of faith telling him they would all be alright in the end.
The longer he thought about it, the worse his quirk was acting up. This was truly the nastiest fight any of them had ever faced— even against one another during training. The pros had grossly underestimated the perpetrators this time around: The League of Villains, again. This had been a completely unsolicited attack, and unexpectedly destructive. The city needed every quirk they could possibly get to help them out there. Every student from U.A. who in possession of a provisional license was called upon to help, meaning he and King Explosion Murder had to make do with being the support department.
How could they have known the damage would even reach where they were, on the very outskirts of the city? The two had no time to worry about the repercussions for acting without licenses right now when they could be preventing casualties.
A slight hint of movement underneath a pile of rubble caught his attention. Shoto snapped back to reality. Someone's still alive underneath.
A/N (12/3/2018): Hey all. This story is going through a big overhaul— and by that I mean I'm going through each section and basically just revising the whole story. I'm also splitting it up into more chapters to help it flow better, and I'll be adding a part two (everything that had been written before will be part one). The rest of the chapters will be put up very soon ^^
