AN: Well at school, my english teacher ask the class to write three stories based on prompts that she gave. The first was 'an old lady on a bus.' There were supposed to be about 50 - 100 words long, but I didn't see that so I wrote about 300 words for that prompt. I really like it so here it is.
A women, old enough to be a great grandmother, hobbled down the street toward the empty bus stop. A cane in hand, she dragged a small rolling bad behind her. Old age was finally catching up on her. The white hair had come in months ago. As a teenager, she was on the track team. Back then, it was a surprise that a women had joined. Even then, she was a petite woman, barely five feet. She squinted at the passing cars, glasses left at home, trying to spot that telltale sign of bright blue up ahead. A young red haired girl with bright green eyes skipped by, dragging her mother behind her. She stopped them and pulled out a plate of cookies. The girl's eyes beamed back at her as she bit into the blue chocolate chip cookie. Her favorite colour was blue as well. She chuckled, children. They were even more cheerful than ever. A long blue bus stopped and lowed the slope for her. She smiled and pulled her bag along, coins jingling in her pocket. The ramp moved back up, the doors closed and the bus started to move as she pulled out her pouch of money. She dropped coin by coin into the machine. Pennies were even thrown in there. Then her ticket came out and staggered towards the back of the bus. A kind man with bright teal hair and lip piercings stood up and allowed her to sit down in the empty seat. Lovely hair colour. She smiled at him and gave him a cookie. At her stop, she stood up and walk haltingly towards the door. Her grandson was waiting for her and the cookies and she better hurry.
