Author's Note: This is a little ballad I had to write for my creative writing class. It's a tribute to Link, our favorite Hero of Time. It's actually sort of a parody off the System of a Down song "Come to Town (Legend of Zelda)". It's a really good song, and if you haven't heard it, ask a friend or look it up and download it. Not that I condone downloading since it's illegal and stuff.  Then again, so is using other people's characters without their permission. That brings me to my next point…

Disclaimer: I don't own Link or the System of a Down song, though I think both are pretty cool. I do own my ballad.

Ballad of Link

Navi!

Has come to Link

Come to wake the boy up

He's being summoned again

To break a curse from within

So now he goes with a cocky grin

(Hallelujah!)

Now Link, pick up your sticks

So you can burn the spider webs

And when get your slingshot

You get to shoot little rocks

And even learn how to move a box

Now Link, has saved the tree

Made Gohma hide and flee

But Deku dies anyway

So he's off to save the day

To the castle he runs away

Now Link, sneak past the guards

So you can see Princess Zelda

And when they turn to see you

Hope you have quiet shoes

So she can then recruit poor you

So Link, it's off you go

To the mountain, you must know

The red ruby lies there

So ignore the deep glares

And enter the cave only if you dare

Now Link, it's almost done

You only have left one

More of the Spiritual Stones

And then you can finally go home

So now let us please just go

Now Link has got them all

And heads back to the mall-I mean castle

Where he meets a scary man

Who shoots with a blast from his hand

And then rides off into the land

Wow Link, you're seventeen

Of this idea you're not too keen

But that's too bad for you

Cuz there's nothing you can do

Except be surprised that you grew

Now Link you're back at home

But Saria is sadly gone

Mido is really depressed

His loyalty is put to the test

And he no longer thinks he's the best

Saria has been saved

Thanks to Link, who's now headed to a cave

To beat up the next bad guy

And hopefully avoid getting fried

By the dragon, who really likes to fly

So Link let's go for a swim

Where you meet some girl with a fin

Then you have to save her

While growing ever bolder

At least you don't have to hold her

Now Link is really scared

Cuz the darkness leaves him impaired

But forward still he must go

So he can beat Bongo Bongo

And get the medallion of Shadow

So Link decides to go west

Where there awaits his final test

Through time he must go

And the younger he must grow

Exactly what to do he does not know

Now Link, he storms the castle

Only to find it's more of a hassle

For the final fight it may be

Harder to earn this victory

But he still enters the ring with glee

Hey Link, you saved the day

Put Ganon forever away

So now Hyrule's been saved

And a hero you're made

Link, in the end you really and truly made the grade

End Note: That's the end to my ballad. If anyone knows what a ballad truly is, you know it's sad and involves death and irony. The thing was, though all my other poetry is somewhat gloomy, I just couldn't make a ballad like that. Zelda was the only thing to inspire me, and that was pretty random itself. How was it? Funny? Interesting? A total waste of your time? Well, don't tell the screen. Tell me. Leave a review. All comments are welcome, except uncalled for rude ones that don't base their heated criticism off of anything and then don't even leave a name or email.
