Weiss sat in a chair at the edge of the cliff, looking out onto the Emerald Forest, the place where she had first met her team. The sun had almost set, the sky a deep crimson and the stars just beginning to peek through the coming blackness. Already suspended in the sky was the moon, gloomy and shattered, missing some of its pieces. She sat there and watched as the sun slowly sank, until the only dim light came from the moon and the stars.

Weiss stood up and picked up three flowers off of the table next to her. She walked to the edge of the cliff and took the first flower in her left hand, a bright, golden yellow tulip. She held it in front of her face, a shadow draped over the flower from the moon behind her. She felt tears start to form in her eyes, but she couldn't cry. Not yet. She threw the tulip over the cliffs' edge and watched as it descended to the abyss of the forest below.

Taking a deep shaky breath, she pulled out the next flower, a beautiful nightshade, into her left hand. The tears threatened to break through as she tossed the flower off of the cliff, and watched as it joined its partner.

She took the last flower in her hands and held it out to examine in the moonlight. A single red rose, the thorns still attached, seemed to glow in the eerie light. Her first tears started falling down her face. She threw the rose off of the cliff and watched it tumble into the nothingness.

Her composure started to break as she walked back to the table and chair, tears streaming down her face. Weiss grabbed the lighter she had brought and flicked the ignition, an orange flame appearing, dancing in the wind. The new light source lit up the table, illuminating the dark brown cake she had gotten. She lit the two candles on top and watched them waver in the breeze. She picked the remaining flower on the table, a red and white striped carnation, and sat back down in her chair. She finally broke as choked sobs escaped her throat. Gripping the flower tight, she pulled her knees to her chest and watched the two candles. Through the tears, she started singing.

"Ha-happy birthday to y-you. Happy b-birthday to you. H-happy birthday t-team RWBY…" She tucked her face into her knees and cried.
