As the plot to Eclipse unravels, Bella discovers that she is a werewolf. She tries to hide it from the Cullens – she breaks up with Edward in an attempt to protect him, as well as herself. But Victoria is coming for her, and the werewolves and vampires still need to meet and prepare for her attack. How will Edward and Bella deal with this?

I pulled into my usual parking space at school, right next to the silver Volvo that belonged to my boyfriend, Edward. In comparison to his car, my battered old red truck seemed to dull right in front of my eyes.

The Cullens were getting out of their cars as I was turning my engine off and – as always, one step faster than myself - Edward was already opening my door for me, offering his hand.

As I took it in mine, he gave me my favorite crooked smile and said, "Good morning, Beautiful."

I looked over my shoulder jokingly and asked innocently, "Who, me?"

Without bothering to supply me with an answer, he lightly pulled me in by the waist and kissed me. Just a quick kiss, of course – he wasn't one for public displays

"How come you never greet me like that anymore, Bella?" I heard Emmett joke from a few feet away, and then a thump which was probably Rosalie smacking him on the back of the head. I couldn't be happier that Edward's family was so comfortable with me.

I winked at Emmett and waved to Jasper, and we all began to walk to class, my hand in Edward's. I know it's rude to leave Rosalie un-acknowledged, but even if I had waved or smiled at her, it only seemed to spark more anger in her. I could never do anything right by her, so I stopped trying altogether. Alice bounced to my side and with the widest grin on her face said, "Tomorrow's Friday! Oh, how about we have a sleepover? We could do each other's hair, paint each other's nails – you know, girly human things! What do you say?"

I was instantly suspicious. "Is it a coincidence that this sleepover is on the same day Edward leaves for his hunting trip?" This most definitely isn't the first time Alice – or should I say, Edward – has pulled this stunt. He always goes through all of this trouble to ensure that I can't see Jacob - and I can rationalize to a certain degree. Yes, Jacob is a werewolf. He could be a danger to me. But he's my best friend… I trust him, and I really wish Edward would invest more trust into my judgement. And really, I have the same chances of defending myself from him as from any average human who decides to attack me. It irritates me that he goes to such lengths to prevent our friendship – it isn't his decision who I associate myself with.

Alice glanced at Edward, and I could see from the corner of my eye that they were having a conversation - his lips were moving at a blur.

"I promise it'll be fun." She added, leaving my question unanswered.

Alice, Edward and I stopped a few feet short of my classroom. The other Culllens had already departed for their first class.

"Actually, I've already made plans with Jake this weekend. Raincheck?"

They both gave me a glare. Edward, never taking his eyes off me, begged, "Please, Bella?"

The warning bell saved the day. "You guys should get to class before you're late." I said, softly.

Alice gave me a long, pleading look, but said nothing else before twisting on her heel and gliding to class. I whispered a "sorry" to Edward before letting go of his hand and heading to class.

There you have it! This chapter served to get the story set up, the drama will begin soon! :D
