One of my efforts for the SFTCOL-AR-S drabble challenge. Prompt word was phone. This is sort of a missing scene from "Mystery Spot".

The Calls Go Unanswered -- A Drabble

By: Vanessa Sgroi

My cell phone starts to ring.

I recline there, motionless, on that hard motel bed, on top of the covers, in the spotless room, and listen to the dirge that is its new ringtone. I knew it was going to be Bobby calling again—like it had been Bobby the last 356 times my phone rang. Yet my lifeless eyes, their spark long since extinguished, never once waver from the pictures of the Trickster—my prey—plastered all over the opposite wall. My fingers never so much as twitch.

I won't answer—Bobby knows this by now.

He calls anyway.
