So I guess I wrote this to kind of keep this account active (after two years). I got bored~ ^-^ It's kind of dark though, so I'm sorry in advance

Thanks for reading~

Church bells were a sacred noise in Hyrule. There were two bells in the city square. A light bell that rang once every hour to signify the time, and a much deeper bell. The deeper bell was loud, and was only heard on two occasions.

In case of marriage… Or death.

Rain poured down steadily, as Hyrule square slowly filled with the many faces of solemn townspeople. Mothers held onto their children as people with nightgowns and lanterns exited their homes. The scenery that had once been cheery and light began to grow dark and ominous. It was too late at night for a marriage to be held. Neither was it time for the bells to ring. That could only mean one thing.

As the crowds gathered at the gates to the castle, a group of soldiers opened the doors. People began to whisper amongst themselves, worried and concerned over who might have died. The soldiers refused to answer any questions, and stood waiting. Behind them, a hooded figure approached the crowds of disrupted residents. The figure pulled down their hood, revealing the long braided hair of a beautiful woman. The whispers that once existed all stopped and all attention turned to her.

"I deeply apologize for having woken you all up." She said, keeping her eyes downcast. "Only a few weeks have gone by since the end of the dreaded curse that fell upon this world, but it appears that more bad news has befallen us."

She raised her head, looking around with a somber expression and hollow eyes. "The hero…" She began, taking a deep and visibly unstable breath. "The hero that saved us from the horrors of the Twilight Realm, Link of Ordon, is dead."

The sound of the bells seemed to be deafening at this point, as horror dawned on the faces of the Hyrulians. The hero was dead. There was nobody left to protect them now.

"I… Princess Zelda-" Her voice trailed off. She closed her eyes, doing her best to keep herself composed. She was, after all, the one that these people were depending on. "I believe it only right that we hold a formal funeral to commemorate his death. Tomorrow… At the castle."

Somewhere in the crowd, a baby began to cry, and howling came from outside the town's walls.

"I understand… This is tragic for all of us, but we must be strong for his sake. Again, I apologize for having woken you all up. You may return to your homes."

Slowly, people began to leave. Nobody spoke. Princess Zelda turned around, walking back towards her castle. The guards that had entered with her stayed by the square, making sure that everything would be alright.

As she walked, the princess' shoulders began to shake.

At least the rain would mask her tears.
