Suicidal Tendencies

The dark waters rolled beneath her. Cold rain drops soaked her robes. Alone, she stood on that dock. She wondered if anyone would miss her or even know she was gone. The man she loved was marrying another woman, and the worst part was that he didn't even know how much it hurt her. They had been friends for years, but she had never gotten up the courage to confess to him her true feelings. Now she was supposed to stand there tomorrow and pretend the she wasn't dying inside. But she wouldn't...no, she couldn't do that.

She stepped forward and her bare foot glided through the open air. It fell towards the churning water, pulling her body with it. As her small frame broke the surface of the water, she vaguely noticed lights flickering on in the windows of Malfoy Manor. Just before the icy water closed over her head, she called quietly, "I will love you until I take my last breath."

When she opened her eyes she didn't know where she was. Instead of the cold, thrashing waters she remembered, she was enveloped in warm, silky sheets. The light filling the room was dim, but not so dim that she couldn't make out her surroundings. After a moment, she recognized it as hisroom. The room she had run to so many times, crying and in need of comfort. The room of the man she loved. This was the room of Draco Malfoy. Feeling movement, she turned her head and saw the young blonde wizard sleeping fitfully with his head resting on the edge of the bed.

"Drake?" she quested quietly.

The sleeping man's eyes fluttered at the sound of his name. He raised his head slowly and then was instantly awake when he noticed the young witch's now open eyes.

"You're awake!" He exclaimed. "Gods, Gin. You scared me half to death! I wasn't sure you were ever going to wake up. What were you thinking?"

She ignored his question and asked one of her own. "How long was I out?"

"Four days, Red," he responded, taking her hand.

"Oh...wow...Wait. Why are you here then?"

"What? Why wouldn't I be here?"

"If it's been four days then you should already be gone on your h...h...honeymoon." She had a hard time forcing that last word out of her mouth.

"I didn't get married, Gin. And quite frankly I don't think I am. Well, not to Pansy anyway. She's furious with me for refusing to leave your side after I pulled you from the lake."

Ginny stared at him with a confused look on her face. "But, why?"

"Because, I love you Ginny. I've loved you since the day we reconnected. I just never could tell you and when my parents arranged the marriage to Pansy, I thought it would be the perfect way to continue to hide my feelings. But, I think my parents now see that I love you not her."

"You...you love me?"

"With all my heart," He gave her a quick kiss on the forehead before continuing. "Now, will you please tell me why you jumped?"

She couldn't quite look him in the eye as she responded, "I jumped because I couldn't stand to watch the man I loved declare his love for another woman. I thought dying would be easier than facing that."

Draco paused for a moment before turning her to face him and responding, "Well then, I guess it's a good thing I followed you."
