A/N- I love Lily and James, and want them to work out, but in this one they just fell apart.

Moving On

"I'm sorry, I just can't do this anymore." James said abruptly and unexpectedly to Lily one afternoon in the hallway next to their head dorm.

"What?" Lily asked, confused.

"Chasing you. I'm giving up. For real. Not like the times before. Isn't this what you've always wanted? I've given up. You win. My love for you is as gone as it can ever be. I'm going to find myself. I don't even know who I am anymore, because everything I have done has you behind it somehow." Frustrated, and disgusted, James continued. "How sick is that? Damn it Lily, I put your emotions, feelings, wants before my own. You were all I thought about! Everything revolved around you. I waiting, thinking it was just a while before you would give me a chance. A while turned into 5 years. James... 5 years Lily! You took 5 years of my life away. Now you expect me to wait longer for you to decide you don't want me, again? I won't let you take a second more away from me. You've had your chance, a big chance. You've lost it. The deadlines long gone by now. I hope you're happy. Wait, I don't. I don't care what you think, how you feel, I don't plain care about you."

During this whole time James ranted, Lily had been shocked into silence. She finally recovered from the astonishment and found her voice "James! How dare you!"

"How dare I what? Shouldn't you be jumping with joy? This is what you've always wanted, right? For me to leave you alone. It's too late to change your mind. Haven't you caused me enough pain? And now you start yelling at me like it's my fault. It's not. Maybe you just realized how much you like being adored and treated like royalty, but its over. Wake up. I finally have." By now, angry tears were streaming down his face. He was a bit sad, but mostly just livid. He said all of this in a disgusted voice. "And I'm not going to pay any more attention to you. Goodbye Lily. That's all I can say."

" Wait! James… "

"Wait? I've waited long enough." James exclaimed in a loud, sharp, angry tone. "Is 5 damn years not enough for you? Face it. I'm gone. However broken I may be, I'm not going back, never. Never will I brood over you again. I'm going on with my life, like I should have years ago. Goodbye. I won't ever think or talk to you again. Find someone else to moon over you. 'Cause I'm done. Don't forget, I'm just taking your advice. You suggested, no ordered, that I move on countless times. And now you're upset that I'm doing just that. You make me sick Lily. You think everyone must love you, because I did, you must be so amazing and powerful for someone to act like that. But you're not Lily. You're conceited, bratty, stuck-up, needy, cruel, bitchy, uptight, and no fun. And now I'm just finally realizing it. Now, I'm finally going to live my life, a life without you. Goodbye."

James swiftly turned on his heel and walked away. Sirius happened to be passing by, and saw James' enraged, tear-covered face. "Are you okay? What happe-?" he stumbled.

"Not now pad. I'll explain later. I'm done" James interrupted and continued down his path.
