"So are you really Clara's boyfriend?"
The Doctor pulled up short for a quick moment, his hand's carrying themselves forward of teir own volition before spinning around to face Angie, who was giving him a look.
"What do you mean," he asked, fidgeting with his boy-tie, "Of course I am. I'm a boy aren't I?"
"You know what I mean," Angie stated, while still giving him that look. He didn't like when females gave him that look. It was devious.
It meant bad things and funny questions.
"I'm afraid I don't quite understand then," he responded, hoping she'd take the reasonable answer. He even tried to hint that the conversation was over by going back to chopping the bananas he had just grabbed.
Unfortunately it wasn't.
"Well you never do boyfriend things for her," Angie reasoned out, standing next to him and just generally getting in his way.
"What are you talking about," he responded, not liking where this conversation could possibly be going, "I do those – things – all the time!"
Clara needed to wake up soon. He could handle Daleks and Cybermen, but teenagers and young kids?
"I don't ever see you get her flowers!" Angie responded with a sing song voice, grabbing a couple of pieces of the banana before popping it into her mouth while giving him a superior look.
"A ha! See, that's where you're wrong!" the Doctor responded, grasping onto this like a lifeline, "Ask her when she wakes up! Flowers and plates of Jammie Dodgers are my specialty!"
"Really Doctor?" she questioned, "You get a girl Jammie Dodgers?"
"Hey, what's wrong with that!" he exclaimed in return, sitting down at the table. How could someone not like them? They were delicious! And fun! With a jam center!
"Oh I don't know," Angie retorted, following him around the room now, "Pretty girl, obviously thinks the complete world of a bloke, even introduces him to my Dad and he gets her Jammie Dodgers."
She leaned over the table and gave him a small sort of glare.
"You're not really a romantic are you?"
He only glared at her in response. He was perfectly romanticable!
"Anyway, Artie and I want to go to the movies, would it be okay if we go?"
"Absolutely not!" he exclaimed, especially after questioning his boyfriend skills. Wait, why was he even getting mad and defensive about this? He wasn't actually Clara's boyfriend, was he?
Oh bother.
"You need to wait for Clara to get up," he continued like he wasn't having a debate with himself in his head as Artie walked into the room.
He was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he didn't see the two siblings give each other a sly look.
"Doctor," Angie questioned, "Want to play Blind Man's Bluff?"
A/N: This was inspired by the idea that Mr. Maitland seems to have no issue trusting The Doctor to be around his children. That's an idea that I think someone could get a lot of traction with.
