Let Go
Shriek the brake sounded as the car stopped. Her mom was leading the way for the movers. They took all their belonging and started moving them into the house. After the last box of things was placed inside, the two figures moved into the spacious two floor house.
Gabriella Montez walked through the patio doors of their new home. It was a warm and welcoming place yet she felt empty behind. She had just moved yet again due to her mom having a job transfer. She looked at the boxes in their home laid on the floor and placed on the dinner table. She took the box of her things and took it up to her new room while her mom started unpacking downstairs. They worked in silence for the day, neither speaking or even wishing to speak.
After a long day of unpacking and the setting sun shone through the glass, they were finally done. Her mother, made a big dinner that night.
"Gabriella, in a week I've got to go to a business trip to Boston. I'll be gone on your third day of school, early in the morning, and I won't be coming back for a month. I've left you with all the new emergency phone numbers. I'll be back on the 11th of October." Her mother told her with a stern face. She was always like that. Her mom just seem oblivious to the fact how much her daughter missed spending time with her.
After a moment Gabriella spoke up. "Okay mom. I'm sure you'll do great. I was wondering where I'd be taking Gymnastics?" Gabriella inquired. That wasn't really the thing on her mind but she had to say something to break the silence. Plus she wanted to know anyway.
Her mother smiled. She gave her a pamphlet with gymnastics information. "I already picked a place out for you, you'll start a week after school."
She took the folded piece of paper and read it after a long conversation at dinner. It was only a week before school started and she could think of a million things she'd rather be doing. She though about her old friends and how much fun she had had with them. Deep down inside, she knew she would drift apart from them soon, but she didn't want to admit it. Forget it Gabriella, she told herself, You'll never drift away from your friends, no matter the how long you don't see them.
The rest of the week pasted by quickly as they settled in. They got to meet the neighbours who were very polite and gracious people. One of her neighbours that she had hit it off right from the start was Sally Kesse, who she later found out was a student at East High, the school she would be attending. They both loved music, and Gabriella found out she played the violin. After meeting Sally, Gabriella felt better that at least she knew someone before she walked through the unknown doors of East High, but it wasn't like she would have a problem, she wasn't a shy person, and found her way around pretty quickly after a while.
After getting everything done on the last day of summer, Gabriella laid down on bed and feel asleep wondering what this new town and school would be like.
