Lucius' Reclaim To Respect

Lucius Malfoy was pacing back and forth in front of his office fire place. He had just returned from visiting his sons apartment. The choice to visit had been spontaneous, which was very unusual for him. When he had arrived he had been surprised that Draco had not come to greet him immediately. The place had been a mess with food wrappers and dishes all over the place. It had looked like Draco had spent all weekend sitting around not bothering to clean up after himself. Lucius had stood in the disgusting sitting room waiting for about three minutes before he got impatient, and decided to see where on earth his son was. His immediate thought had been that perhaps Draco was listening to his ridiculous muggle contraption again that played music directly into your ears, but alas that had not been the case. He continued to pace as he dwelled on what he had seen.

As Lucius walked down the hallway of the tiny flat he heard a muffled snoring coming from the bedroom. This was odd to him because Draco had never snored before; he was also disapproving of the fact that his son was sleeping at such a late hour. He walked down the short hallway to the flats only bedroom and opened the door. The snoring figure on the bed was immediately discernible as definitely not his son. The man that laid there had black hair, it contrasted the ivory coloured pillow that his face was pressed into. Lucius was thankful that the man was laying on his front as he was completely naked. There was a rustling in the bathroom adjacent to the room, and his son's voice had rung out.

"Honestly darling it's time to wake up! We have things to do today, and 'sleep deprivation due to shagging all night' isn't a good enough excuse to get us out of them!" The figure on the bed squirmed sleepily and Lucius suddenly could see a bit of his face. It was none other than Harry Potter. Thankfully he had not opened his eyes. Lucius left quietly but quickly and hoped that they again wouldn't hear the floo as he left.

He wasn't sure how he was able to continue to contain himself even now that he was back in the manor. What he had hoped to be a simple day with his son had now become a hard day of deep thinking. It was blatantly obvious to him that his son had been dating Potter for some time. It would have taken him months to allow Potter to come over with his place anything but spotless. Plus Lucius suspected now that it was most likely Potter who convinced Draco six months ago to get that tiny sound device. The problem was he didn't know what to think of the relationship. He knew how he felt of course - which was immediate disapproval. It was a Malfoy's duty to continue the family name; he wouldn't even care if his son was physical with other men, but the fact that he was romantic with one was where his issue lay. Yet he couldn't help his secondary train of thought, which was that of course Potter's reputation was in the highest of standings in the wizarding community. Narcissa helping Potter in the final battle at Hogwarts had been enough to keep them out of jail but their reputation was still completely tarnished. If his son were to go public with his relationship with Potter it would surely be a scandal the newspapers would enjoy. If they are as serious as he suspects, however, it could eventually help to rebuild the Malfoy's name. The idea of his son being with Potter of all people was still horrifying to him. In fact he would like to go there and forbid them from seeing each other ever again. This new wonderful idea had taken hold of him however, and he already knew he was an accomplished enough actor to hide his true feelings.

After contemplating the idea for another hour he decided he would visit them again tomorrow. He would pretend to be surprised at the discovery of them being together, but would feign acceptance. He would then discreetly encourage them to announce there relationship to the public. Then while the press had a field day with the news he would continue to put on the accepting, loving father act that everyone would adore him for. It was a perfect performance which he could pull off all too easily. He knew he wouldn't even need to convince Narcissa to go along with it. She had always loved their son above all else and therefore would accept Potter no matter her personal feelings. Lucius was immensely pleased with the brilliance of his own plan. Loving may not be the best description for him but cunning certainly was, he was after all a Slytherin.
