Spot's term is burning bridges. Jack can't quite find the right words for his description.
"I don't want to be around someone hypocritical, who says the words but never goes through the actions," he tells him by the docks one day after a heated encounter.
"Then why am I here?" Jack asks.
"I needed to prove it to myself first," he replies, pulling up his suspenders. "And now I'm going to burn the bridge."
"You think your pain is bigger than anyone else's," Jack accuses.
"Maybe it should be."
Spot says it's burning bridges.
Jack calls it fear of love.
