I arrive at the kitchen.

The first thing noticed is the relative lack of food. Seems like one of us is going to have to go shopping again. Only half-awake, I rummage through the pantry in search of something edible.

...I feel food.

A soft grunt that probably means "mornin'" comes from the kitchen table of our tiny apartment. It seems that my "roommate", my dear Kyon, has already found his breakfast.

"Here."

He speaks, and I turn. He's already thrown some sort of rectangle—"cereal box"—and it bops me on the shoulder before dropping to the floor. I pick it up, but I'm too tired to attempt reading it.

I notice that his bowl has plenty of cereal, but hardly any milk. This can only mean one thing.

"You take the last of the milk, Kyon?"

A grunt that sounds like "oh, sorry". I know better than to cross him at this hour—wonderful person though he is, Kyon is definitely not a morning person.

I decide to request funds from the Organization to purchase food. Taking advantage of Kyon's half-awake state, I grope around the counter for my cell phone and text-message my superior, who agrees. This Kyon is a hungry one.

"Well? You find anything to eat?"

I did not. Sighing, I resolve to try again, and turn back to the pantry to forage once more.

"Eat, Itsu-kun. We got stuff to do today."

My hand touches a small box. Could I eat this? True, it's normally heated in a microwave, but some people actually like it cold. I, however, enjoy the warmth the microwave gives to it.

No, I suppose it will have to do. This shall be my breakfast.

"Pop-Tarts."

I will merely eat it differently.
