I Gave It All… You Gave It All by believesvueo
I was inspire by the song "I Gave It All" by Aquilo
You didn't think it was possible to be so happy. All your life, you only knew of sadness and anger. You were born poor. You never knew your father. You never had a childhood because for as long as you can remember, you had to take care of your mother. She was sick, always sick. You learned early on that the money your mother was getting from the government was not enough. You had to find ways to pay the bills. Bishop was not a progressive town but you were stuck there because you had no other place to go. Then she met Hannah and for awhile things were bright. Then a man took her away from you. One night she disappeared and never to be seen again. Your life since then have been filled with revenge and distrust of humanity. After your mother died, you left Bishop and lived a life of violence and death. But in your search for meaning, you discovered your God. The Machine who taught you to care. You never thought it was possible for you to love anybody the way you loved Hannah but then the Machine introduced you to Sameen Shaw. Since then, your heart had belonged to her. Two years of flirting and dancing around until you both finally gave in. For six months you didn't think the bliss you felt every time you came together would ever end. Then one night she ended. She didn't give you an explanation. You didn't ask for one, you just nodded. That was a week ago, and now here you are, in her arms, dying. You looked into her eyes and there was no place you would rather be than here right now in her arms even the pain from the bullets didn't hurt. You are just happy to be here in her arms as the world closes in on you. You saw your life flash before you and you smiled as you remembered Hannah and then the moments you spent making love to Sameen. You smiled at her and closed your eyes.
You are begging her to stay with you. You asked her not to close those big, hazel eyes that you found yourself lost in since the day she walked into your life. You had never cried before even when your father died but the tears are flowing now as you continue to tell her to keep her eyes open. You hugged her tighter as you felt her body go limp and you know you are losing her. The bullets that she took were meant for you. She is begging you to let her go. That it is time. You shook her head and told her "I don't know what to do without you in my life. Please stay for me."
And stayed you did because you never could say "no," to her.
Stayed she did for you and you thanked every God you can think of.
A year later this beautiful bundle of joy is born. Big, beautiful hazel eyes just like her mother's. You had never seen anything more beautiful in your whole life. And when you held her in your arms, the joy you felt cannot compare to anything. You looked over at Root who was now asleep after being in labor for 24 hours. Now you know this is what love was about. This is what it feels like to be in love.
