I fought silence talking to it

and smoothed your absence just with my arms

and the more you want me, the less you'll see me

and the less you want me, the more I'll be with you

the more I'll be with you, with you, with you

I swear

"Idiot." she says; she knows you're awake even though you're motionless on that bed, she knows even if her eyes are closed.

She shouldn't be here, in this city, on your hospital bed, her head resting on your chest, her hand entwined to yours.

"Where's Meredith?"

"I don't know." she mumbles. "With Cristina, I think. She was here earlier."

You stroke her arm, and when you notice you're doing it it's already too late.

"You got shot, Derek." she's annoyed, almost angry.

"When two people divorce, they usually stop caring about one another." you tell her.

"You stopped caring about me?" she sits up.

"No. I never did. And if you were the hurt one, I'd be by your side. But, would I find you alone?"

She grimaces. "I kind of am with Sam."

You do not look surprised, and maybe you really aren't.

For now, you're just glad she's here, happy to here her voice over the pouring rain, because it's just a little more familiar to you than Meredith's one.

A/N: And for the first time, I give you an Addek post-final ff. I plan on doing another one, but I'm not sure yet. I'll just follow my inspiration. The song is an Italian one, and I translated it, hopefully without mistakes. If you want to listen to it, it's "Sere Nere" by Tiziano Ferro. If you want the whole lyrics's translation, send me a PM.
