AN: Based on this post

For two years they all joked about it. Never once did they think it was actually going to happen.

Yang Xiao Long was cutting her hair.

Not that it was done out of choice; if Yang had it her way, she wouldn't be sitting on a chair in her dorm room with the rest of RWBY and JNPR watching her, and Blake at her back with a pair of scissors ready to cut away the burnt hair. However, this was the Kingdom of Vale, not the Kingdom of Burgers, so Yang could not have it her way. Especially since it technically wasn't even her fault the fire started anyways. Sure, she got a little over the top with the phrase "shots" as she pumped her gauntlets into the air, but that was besides the point.

It wasn't her fault that Weiss still had some fire dust residue from her visit with her father…

Everyone came out of the bar okay, and really the only casualty was Yang's hair, which had caught , but to Yang, it was one of the most devastating losses she could endure…

"Are you sure you're okay with this?" Blake asked, holding the first lock to be cut. Yang nodded briskly, eyes screwed shut. She couldn't bring herself about to watch the massacre that was about to happen.

"I'm sure."

"You're not going to hit me later for listening, are you?"

"No promises."

Blake rolled her eyes and steadied her hands. "I'm going to make the first cut." She made wide glances to her audience of six, slowly closing the pair of scissors and watching as blonde curls fluttered to the floor. Yang had let out a small whimper, but other than that… no fire, no explosions, no red eyes. All was good.

Blake took in a breath and kept going. It was a long process, but slowly yet surely, the dead, burnt locks were cut away, gathering on the floor. The blonde bruiser still had her eyes shut, occasionally shaking her head free of any strands or to just feel the air against her neck. It quickly earned her a scold from Blake, but she wasn't the one who took care of her hair like it was one of her favorite features and suddenly had it taken away.

Everyone in the room had been so quiet you can hear a pin drop. All eyes were on Yang and her partner.

The pile slowly grew bigger and bigger and someone made a hushed joke that they could probably hide Weiss in it and no one would know. Probably Jaune considering the yell he emitted when Weiss reached over and punched his arm.

After a few more clips, Blake lowered her arms and let out a breath.

"It's done."

Yang dashed up from the seat, running for the nearest mirror and feeling back behind her head. Upon seeing her long golden curls missing, a confused look struck her face.

"I haven't had it this short in years…"

"Oh?"

"I don't like it."

Ruby rolled her eyes whereas everyone was surprised they weren't dead. "Oh, come on, Yang! You look fine! The cut looks very good on you."

Yang grumbled at her sisters response, touching her hair more and more.

"I still don't like it."

Blake chuckled. "Well, at least it grows back, right?"

"Yeah, but do you know how long it took for it to get that long?"

"Think of it this way. Now I have something better to hang onto~" And for added measure, Blake tugged at the bottom of her hair, pulling the blonde down enough to kiss her and hold her there.

After they disconnected, Yang wore a goofy look on her face.

"Alright, maybe it's not that bad…"
