A little poem about Frodo's experience of having the ring and how he felt through the LOTR. Sorry it won't let me paragraph so every other verse is italics. I hope you like it and responses are welcome. x

Disclaimer - I don't own Middle Earth, not even Legolas. :(

With Each Step

With each step The Shire reseeds further into the darkness,

The memories of it taunting me,

For I know, it will never be home again.

With each step the internal battle blazes ever stronger,

The ring's temptation slowly breaking me,

How long can I resist, will I succumb to it's power?

With each step I fear what will await at journey's end,

The person I will have become,

The lives lost, will some of those be my friends?

With each step the embers of hope slowly burn out,

This quest feels lost,

The ring has beaten me, will I become like Smeagol?

With each step Sauron's armies grow more powerful,

The ring seeks it's master,

And I am weak, too weak to deny the ring.

With each step I come nearer to Mordor

I venture there with a friend,

Samwise Gangee has been with me

With each step of mine till the end.
