The clock ticked seemed to getting louder the longer he waited.

His heart ached as another scream ripped through the air, even tough she was in the other room, those pain filled screams seemed to be right in his ear.

The young man reached up, toying once again with the straw hat that lived there. Sighing he moved from his seat and walked over to the window.

'Why had they not let me in?' Luffy thought as the hour since it happened seem to drag on. 'How long am I to wait?'

The pirate captain glanced out the window, the snow had piled up against the glass outside; it had fallen heavily through the day, and only stopped during the evening. Luffy face was pale, he stared blankly out the snow, almost like he could see through the whiteness and at the mountains he knew was out there.

A bead of sweat formed on right his temple and travel down to his cheek dripping off the end of his chin. Monkey D Luffy was afraid, he had known many forms of fear during his young life, but nothing like this.

"This waiting lot is killing me!" Luffy tried to whine out, but even to his ears it did not sound right. 'Maybe because of the screaming?' He thought as the screams seemed to be getting louder; louder than the clock, louder than the wind, louder than his own thoughts. "See what this waiting has been to me! I've got mad!"

The scream echoed with his voice. Talking to himself was not helping, sitting quietly on the chair did not help, due did looking out the window.

He glance towards the door that was on the other side of the door from him, and stared at it without blinking.

The screaming had stopped. It was only for 30 seconds, Luffy knew because he was counting down the seconds. Then it started up again, making him want to cover his ears. He had not stand it any more, how much longer would he have to wait?

He took in a deep breathe, he was known as a fearless man, who could brave any challenge face on. Luffy puff his chest out and started walking around the room, trying to bigging himself up.

The screams continued, and it lowed himself back down on the chair. He had forgotten what it meant to be in fear for another's life, one that was dear to him. He could beat up someone to protect the ones he loved, but here he was now a so-called powerful man powerless to help the one he loved.

He closed his eyes, knowing that he was the one who caused this pain she was going through. Luffy would give anything at the moment to take that pain away and place it upon himself.

Luffy leaned back in the chair and waited still.

Suddenly the scream broke off, and Luffy's eyes snapped open. There was something different about how that scream ended.

An ear piercing howl was heard, which was soon joined by two others howls similar to the first and then another.

Luffy stared at the door, waiting. But this felt like a different kind of waiting he had done for the last hour.

The door then swung open and Chopper came trotting out, looking all around. On seeing Luffy his face lit up happily and he rushed over to where his Captain was standing.

"Luffy!" Chopper cried out as he reached for him taking the tall thin man by the hand, "Both mother and babies are doing well."

"Right..." Luffy smiled as he dizzily started walking letting the reindeer pulled forward. "Wait!" Luffy said stopping as he frowned down at his doctor, "Babies? Don't you mean baby?"

"No." Chopper answered shaking his head with a grin, "You had a big litter Luffy."

"Litter?" Luffy tired to ask as the happy but tired looking doctor pulled him through the doorway.

"Let me introduce your litter!" Chopper said proudly as he wave his arms over to the two midwives. Luffy blinked as he saw four strange little creatures, be handed over to his wife.

Luffy's wait was over, but something new had began.
