Chez Paris

A Valentine's day poem by Helga, about her memory of one very special Valentine's day she had with a certain Football Head.

Valentine's Day is today

And love was in the air

Valentine's day is today

And I pretended not to care

...

Valentine's day is today

And I saw the others kids partake it

Giving each other's candy, cards and cakes

And yet I acted like I didn't like it

...

Valentine's day is today

And when I saw you in the halls

As you were unaware of my presence and talking to Gerald-o

All I could think about was that Valentine's Day that we spent together

From so, so long ago

...

The evening we spent together at Chez Paris

Even though you didn't know it was me

That night together at Chez Paris

Where I pretended to be someone that I'm not

All so that you wouldn't know who I was

And that I wouldn't feel embarrassed

...

That night at Chez Paris

It had been pure chaos, a near catastrophe

From cow brains, two timing and and me almost getting caught

That night at Chez Paris had been so crazy

And for a moment I feared that it all had been for naught

...

And yet something had happened, something that I still can't believe

You actually told me that you liked me

Somehow, you were able to overlook all the deception, chaos and demands

Somehow, you managed to see pass my ugly exterior

And you even kissed my hand

...

Oh, how I wish that moment could have last forever

But sadly it was not meant to be

I knew that we had to part ways

Before you could discover who I really was

That I was no more than Helga G. Pataki

...

I left for you my little red shoe

So that if you truly meant what you said

That you liked me too

You could use it to remember me by

And remember our first and only time

Together

On this day known as Valentine's

...

Now today, as I gaze at you, I still think of that night

Filled with romance, chaos, lies and you still finding it yourself to be chivalrous

I smile to myself since I still remembered what you said

That no matter what, we will always have Chez Paris.

:) Happy Valentine's Day, everyone :)
