She knew that she might not stand a chance against the creature in front of her.

The monster, who killed his wife and children, along with many others...

Just to be immortal.

She knew that she could always turn away and run.

Give up, throw it in the towel, and run off like any other person.

But she also knew...

If she just gave up right then and there, more people will be in danger.

If she gave up, she would have let that madman win.

If she just gave up...

At that thought, she gritted her teeth and struggled to stand up.

Even though she had a life extension back at Dreadmond, it did not make the wound at her side less painful.

The madman stopped laughing when she saw her stand up, and instead sneered at her weakness.

"So, what are you going to do, Miss?"

"You were shot by one of my henchmen. You can hardly even stand."

"So, what makes you think you can still stop me?"

The madman laughed again, and the detective smiled, depite of the pain at her side.

"Well, I admit, I do...do not have the physical means to stop you."

"But I will stop you, nonetheless."

"Hmm?"

The madman peered at her, mildly curious and peeved.

"You can hardly stand up. You can hardly save your precious civilians now."

"Maybe, but there is still...one little thing."

"Oh, and what's that?"

The madman grinned broadly.

"I'm still breathing."

She stood very still, and talked in a calm yet hard tone.

"I am the Master Detective from the Royal Agency, and my duty lies here. I will complete this assignment, I will save the people of Capitol City..."

"And I WILL bring you to justice, even if it will mean that this will be my last case!"

She brought out a gun.

"Normally there are gun laws in Britain, but hopefully, some circumstances will allow this law to be bent or overlooked."

"What are you doing?!"

She aimed at the immortality device, and carefully aimed it at the core of the machine.

"NO! I will not allow you to do that!"

As the man charged towards her, she fired the gun without hesitation.

"BOOM!"

"NOOOOOOO! MY PLANS! CURSE YOU, DETECTIVE! CURSE YOU!"

As she put the gun down, she fell onto the ground as a wave of relief overtook her.

At least he won't be able to hurt other people anymore...

Suddenly, everything went black, and she knew no more.
