A/N: Hello there! The original story was created in 2015, and now here we are, a year later-ish. Kiro here informing you that from now on, this story has gone through some vigorous editing! I have gathered up with a dear friend who helped with editing in the past, and we present you with a fresh, updated version of A Demon's Weakness. It is still in progress, however I do suggest to re read the story for a more modern and smooth read. Silence. The bitter twist of a soundless, distraught scene. A convoy of fighters, joined together in tears and injury, watched the greatest warrior fall before them. With little signs of survival, he breathed heavily as the pursuing demon closed the gap between them.
"Sieghart!" the demon exclaimed. A crooked smile emitted from the child-like character's blood-stained face. "It's your time. I've finally made it this far after spending eternities in Trivia!" A snicker is heard from the boy as he sat upon Sieghart's chest. Golden canine eyes peered into the injured man's soul.
"You don't have to do this!" Asin, one of the fighters, bellowed as he tried to stand, only to fall down from pain and weakness. Nobody had the power left to make a last stand against this mysterious foe.
"Your demise is all that I ask for. Nothing more nothing less! And don't you all worry. I'll make sure Seighart's death remains covert. Wouldn't want the generations to cause an uproar." The onerous demon laughed as he lifted Sieghart from the ground. Once they were both steady in the air, the demon prepared his escape.
"Veigas! Don't you dare leave!" Asin howled a minute too late. The seemingly lifeless body disappeared along with Veigas. The Chasers entered a stage of panic despite the hurtful paralysis from their short yet bitter battle with the demon. They all attempted to stand.
"I-I don't understand any of this! Where did that thing come from!?" Ruby Knight Elesis cried, slamming her fists against the soft withered ground. One of the warriors managed to stand and walk towards Elesis, placing a calloused hand upon her shoulder. It's Ronan, the Royal Guard master of Kanavan.
"We'll bring him back, Elesis. The boy mentioned a place called Trivia," Ronan looked around, inspecting his team mates before continuing, "If we look for Trivia, we'll have a chance to find Sieghart and bring an end to that threat."
"He must be from another dimension. It's like he came out of nowhere," Asin sighed. "He must have done a damn deal of fighting to get out of there."
"Why would he attack us? Nobody knows him... Right?" Archer Lire says as she helped the Violet Mage Arme up. "Nobody should know him... Unless someone does and won't admit it."
After moments of struggle and medical attention, the Grand Chase became stable enough to travel to the nearest area to find medicine and other supplies. They all prepared to make a tiresome journey back home. Despite dim hopes, they clung to a fragment of their next plan. Their need to retrieve Sieghart before it became too late.
Meanwhile, near the gates to Elyos…
Veigas inspected his reward. He smiled, he frowned. He was ready to finish off the almost lifeless man, but a feeling that something wasn't right stopped him.
"Deus... Why am I hesitating? Look at him. He's dirty, almost dead. It's not hard to finish the job but I'm not in the killing mood." He growled in disappointment after what seemed to be wasted bloodshed. "I'm not pleased at all."
"Your emotions are unstable, Veigas. It is imperative that you rest. You did waste a grand amount of your power," Deus ex Machina, his weapon, informs. The orbiting cube glided close to Veigas. "You seized Seighart despite your intention to kill him. Now he is in your possession." Veigas responds with a confused stare. Head tilting to the side, he continued looking at the warrior.
"What shall I do then? I'm… Confused. I don't want to return now. Aernas has yet to feel my wrath."
"First you must rest, Veigas. Do not overexert yourself. We must tend to the warrior if you do not want him to die." The cube freezed next to Veigas, then began to rotate in place. The demon lifted Sieghart up and slung the man over his right shoulder.
"He's heavy. Where's the nearest hospital?"
"There is one ten and a quarter mile from here. I sense a foe we may encounter along the way though. I suggest we avoid it."
"There's nothing in this world that can defeat me. Even if I'm brittle. The Messenger of Destruction has no weakness." Veigas returned to smiling as he flew away along with Sieghart and Deus. They now soared above Aernas, a world that Veigas saw fit to be the judge of. This is the beautiful land he desperately sought to destroy. The land that would soon give in to Destruction.
