A plush room in the basement of 12, Grimmauld Place, housed a content, snoozing werewolf. Thanks to the Wolfsbane potion that his wife brewed each month, Remus Lupin simply went to the basement, locked the door, transformed, and laid down to sleep each full moon, rather than turning into the ravaging beast that he had been before the potion. Many people over the years had tried to convince him that he didn't need to go to the basement, or lock the door but he did it for his own peace of mind.
The morning sun began to peek through the tiny windows around the top of the room and the wolf began to transform back into a man with light brown hair that had just a bit of gray around the edges. The nude man stretched and picked up his clothes, dressing quickly before heading up the stairs.
Remus unlocked and opened the basement door, and stepped into the hallway. He had made less than three steps toward the living area of the home when he was tackled by five year old Selene Evera, and three year old Connor Liam.
"Daddy!" Both children squealed. "We missed your story before bed last night!"
Remus hugged and kissed both his children as his wife walked around the corner with a smile on her face. "Kids, why don't you give Daddy time to get out of the hallway before you attack him?" Hermione gently chided her children. Their reaction was nothing new, both children loved their daddy more than anything, and missing their story once a month was the worst thing either of them had ever experienced in their short lives.
"Go pick out a book, and I'll read to you after breakfast," Remus suggested to his children, both of which were staring up at him, begging with their honey brown eyes.
The children took off down the hall, and Remus wrapped his arms around his wife. "I missed you last night too," she said with a warm smile.
Hermione laid her head against Remus' chest and he bent his head to kiss her curls. "I missed you too. I miss you ever night that we're apart," he replied.
Their tender moment was interrupted by the pounding of four tiny feet coming down the hallway, each child with a book in their hand.
"Mum, can we have cereal this morning?" Selene asked.
"Cereal!" Connor agreed.
Hermione laughed, knowing that both children were in a rush for their story with their daddy. "Let's go, but no Froot Loops!"
The children shoved their books into Remus' hands and raced to the kitchen. Both were in their booster seats, waiting almost patiently with their hands in their laps when their mummy and daddy walked into the room.
Remus stifled a laugh because to anyone else, the children would have looked positively angelic, but to both he and his wife, it was obvious that they were both about to burst.
Hermione got out bowls, spoons and the cereal, and soon everyone was eating.
Not a surprise to anyone, the kids were done first, and sat, bouncing slightly, until Remus finished. The minute he was done, they each grabbed one of his hands and nearly dragged him into the living room, to the big chair where he always read to them.
Once all three were settled, and unknown to them, Hermione was watching from the door, Remus began reading. "Once upon a time..."
Selene Evera - Selene means moon, for the werewolf daddy and is also Greek, the same origin as mum's name. Evera means Brave One.
Connor Liam - Connor means wolf lover, again for daddy, and Liam means warrior for both mum and dad who fought bravely against Voldemort.
