Broad-shouldered, undeniably male, he had the most beautiful green eyes. Dark blond hair. The face of an angel.

Ailianna's shimmer of glamour attracted him, a moth to a flame.

They left the bar hand in hand.

She tasted his skin in bed. Whiskey. Sadness. His family: the dark brooding father, the not so little brother. Loud voices. Fighting.

The eldest felt helpless. He couldn't keep the peace.

She traced a fingertip on his bare chest. "Come away with me. You'll live forever free. We'll never doubt you. We'll cherish you always."

The answer came in a soft, hoarse whisper: "Yes."
